“Perfect Place To Stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 August 2013

Four of us visiting family and only room for two to stay, so two of us had to find somewhere else to stay the night and what a great place we found here. Firstly it's situated in a very pretty area. The house itself is set in lovely grounds and I wish we had more time to enjoy the garden and lake. The house was perfect for B&B and because I have difficulty in climbing stairs I was so pleased that they had a ground floor room. The people who own the business are so nice and very friendly. And lastly, the breakfast was all anyone could wish for. I thoroughly recommend this B&B and would give it a 100%. So much nicer than an impersonal hotel.

Room Tip: If you are a little infirm, ask for the ground floor room.

Absolutely agree with all the other comments. A fantastic place to stay. All the accessories and facilities of a high class hotel, but with the personal touch. Nothing is too much trouble for Christine & Brian. Live nature watch feeds in each bedroom were the icing on the cake. Would definitely recommend.

When we arrived at Marl Cottage we were greeted by Brian and Christine and made to feel very welcome indeed. Our first impression was great! The room was delightful. Spotlessly clean, very well and tastefully decorated. One thing I really liked in our bedroom was a tiny fridge, where there was fresh milk in a jug, and a bottle of water. I just thought that was a really nice touch. Bathroom also spotlessly clean, with plenty of towels. Lovely shower. They have nature watch tv in the bedroom which is great. We put it on at night and straight away we saw two badgers, but apparently there are six or more that show themselves, and also a fox and her family. We only saw the badgers, but it was smashing to watch them. Breakfast the next morning was absolutely superb! Everything was very fresh, and cooked to perfection. After breakfast we took a walk around the garden which is just lovely. Brian and Christine are a charming, naturally friendly couple who make sure you are comfortable and wish for nothing. Wonderful hosts! Everything about Marl Cottage is five star, and I would really recommend a visit. Absolutely no negative comments at all!
Thank you Brian and Christine for a wonderful stay, and we hope to return when we are again in the area.

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely, and there is also a family suite.

Rang to book and the very last minute, really friendly. Lovely and spotless room overlooking perfectly manicured gardens.

Had a huge cooked brekfast which was very nice indeed. 'Badger' watch TV is great fun too

This is our 3rd annual visit to Marl Cottage and it remains a great place to stay. Christine and Brian, the owners, go the extra mile to ensure the stay is as comfortable as possible. The breakfasts are first class, so are the evening meals if you decide to stay in. This place is a haven of peace and tranquility. Highly recommended.

I stayed one night while doing a long distance walk. I was made extremely welcome on arrival and the owner, Chris, wouldn't hear of letting me take my boots off before coming in. She made sure they were well under the radiator overnight to give them the best chance of drying fully! My room was lovely, immaculately clean and very comfortable with plenty of toiletries, towels and a generously provisioned tea and coffee tray. The breakfast was huge and excellent and set me up for a 15 mile walk very well. Chris and Brian were delightful and very thoughtful. I would very much recommend Marl cottage and would stay again.
