“A great blend of pub, restaurant, hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 April 2013

Just spent a weekend there for the walking. In the day time there a lots of walkers and tourists in the bar and outside. But come evening time the restaurant is very good for residents and casual visitors alike. Excellent menu, all really well cooked, presented and served.
Minor irritation was that the room suffered from the noise of the hand drier in the ladies' loo, but that stopped by 10:30.
Breakfast service and quality was excellent too.

Room Tip: The room we had was great, overlooking a fabulous view. Go for the higher rooms 112,3,4

A lovely spot to relax after a good walk in the rain. Food was OK, I had steak baguette which was rather tasteless - the meat and the bread- with a piece of plastic in it (looked like sauce had been squeezed from the plastic).
Drinks very expensive.
From reviews they seem to prefer dogs to children, no problem taking dog in.
I have always wanted to stay here so will probably hope for better with the food next time.

Always wanted to stay at this hotel and I'm so glad we did. The service was briiliant and the food was fantastic. We arrived late for our food but the receptionist was so helpful. Had the best fillet steak for as long as I can remember.

Two business colleagues and myself met there for lunch on Monday 25th March. It was a convenient location for a brief business meeting. We were looked after extremely well by all the staff. We were the only guests in the restaurant but the bar was pretty full.

The service was quick and attentive, the food was excellent and we were left pretty much on our own for a couple of hours which suited us very well. Nobody rushed us out of the restaurant so we were able to complete our business without interruption which we sometimes do get.

An excellent choice and a superb location

We used the hotel as a base to explore (walking and driving) the Malvern Hills. Very comfortable and good value. We ate in the bar restaurant twice - lively and friendly with excellent service and good meals. Rooms were well maintained. The only negative was the weak wi-fi service. Did not connect in our room even though the hotel front desk tried to insist all rooms had coverage, and in the public areas was quite slow. It was free access however.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the British Camp hills in front of the hotel. And if you need wi-fi insist on a r...

My mum lives just a few miles from the Malvern Hills, so it has become a regular trip to drop off the small people and hide out in the Malvern Hills Hotel for a night or two.
Don't get me wrong, the hotel is great if you are a group of friends, family or a couple. Indeed, I've dropped by for a meal or drink in all those guises. It caters very well to the hundreds of walkers who pile up their boots in the front porch, and whose dogs warm their bellies in front of the burner, and the bikers who stop for a coffee or hot chocolate. But it's best enjoyed at leisure.
Two nights is better than one, as it allows time for a march to the top of British Camp on the doorstep. At some times of year only two nights are possible on a weekend. But in Winter just one is bookable.
This year we popped by as a precursor to my husband's birthday. Arriving on Saturday afternoon, we were shown immediately to our now favourite room, which has a big antique king bed to the rear of the hotel. The four-poster over the front is also very nice, but being a restless sleeper and packing a couple of extra pounds, a king bed is a must-do.
In the Summer we would sit outside and enjoy the walkers and bikers passing by, but in the Winter a table near the wood-burner and a pile of papers and magazines is just the ticket.
The bar serves a range of well-kept local ales, including a few from Wye Valley Brewery, and good ciders. There is also an extensive wine selection.
We ate from the specials board - a burger for me and a beef fillet for the hubby - both very satisfactory. Have to confess to having two much wine for dessert, so we took a couple of hot chocolates up to the room.
Lots of space in the room - a little cold but ample covers so not a problem once in bed. The bathroom spacious with comp toiletries and towel rail. The bath is a really nice shape so you can have the water up to your chin while you doze.
Breakfast all good quality (local?) fayre, served to table and cooked to order.
Not much else to say except sometimes you find somewhere where you are greeted like a friend when you return. The Malvern Hills is one of those.

Enjoyed two nights at the Malvern Hills in early February. Excellent location for walking. Adequate parking. Received a warm welcome on arrival and was shown to a corner room at the rear with a view towards the Welsh Hills between the trees. Comfortable, spacious and well equipped with an excellent bathroom. Like previous reviewer found it a little cold but fan heater adequate to achieve comfortable temperture. Absolutely fabulous breakfasts and dinners to a very high standard. Would return to this hotel.
