“A proper English B and B!”
Reviewed 12 April 2014

For our anniversary, my husband had bought us tickets to Malvern theatre so we decided to stay over. We found this small hotel on Late Rooms and decided it suited our needs. It literally was a few hundred yards- even in 5inch heels- from the theatre, steps away from eateries and had the most amazing views.
Set at the bottom of the Malvern hills, it would also be ideal for ramblers/ walkers. There is a good sized car park in front of the hotel
The owners were really friendly and welcoming and the room was lovely and clean. The bed was really comfortable and the tea making facilities were plentiful.
Breakfast the next morning was freshly cooked. There was lots of choice- cereal, fruit, cooked, toast and a lovely big pot of tea or coffee. The owner served us and was polite and helpful, giving us advice on where to walk that morning.
It brought back lovely memories of childhood holidays in B and Bs and really was the loveliest experience. We have already decided to book for September.

Great location, ideal for town and for the theatre. The owners are smashing people , the room we had was spacious with a lovely outlook over the gardens. Excellent breakfast. Perfect for a two or three day break.

Room Tip: Rooms at rear overlook gardens

We stayed at the Montrose as part of a 'get away' weekend and visit to the theatre. The Montrose is a lovely old building with interesting original features. We were greeted with a very friendly welcome and stayed in a comfortable room. The cooked breakfasts were fresh and tasty. Well worth a stay and reasonably priced. Many thanks to The Montrose.

Have stayed before and once again it was a positive experience, friendly owners and good value for what we had.
Very comfy beds, and a good breakfast.
No need to use the car, everything on your doorstep, including those Mlavern walks.

Room Tip: Rear of hotel off road, but probably not much diffrence.

The Montrose is very convenient for Malvern centre and is clean and comfortable. The owners are very friendly and vegetarian breakfast is one of the best I have eaten. Yes, as others have said, it could use some redecoration, but it doesn't detract from the positive experience.

Stayed one night for a wedding. Spotlessly clean bathroom and bedlinen, good shower, very comfy bed and lovely view. Hotel a bit tired and shabby in places but proprietors friendly and breakfast delicious.

As we drove up we realised we probably had not researched this hotel well enough. We appeared to be the only guests in a multi room hotel. Being a turn of the century hotel, the room had high celings which at least gave the feeling of being less cramped. The en-suite had been added to a corner of the room so was tight for space with a shower over bath that you had to run around to get wet! Wi-fi reception was intermittent so we gave up on trying to on-book further accomodation which was irritating. Breakfast in the large, lonely dining room was very average. The only redeeming feature was it's close proximity to town.
