We booked new years eve for the function and room. Both of these were fine but the real issue was them 'swiping' your debit card to just hold details until you check out the next day when full payment was then taken off my card BUT they failed to tell me they had taken a further £100 the night before when they had 'merely swiped' my card to hold the details!!
It then took 5 working days for that money to appear back on my card and become accessible.
When I telephoned to complain the first person I spoke to said no amount should have gone off my card only the details are stored and they would investigate and come back to me.
2 days later I duly spoke to the person who took the card details the night we checked in and he claimed he had done nothing wrong and that ALL hotels did this paying you the money back at a later date. I said this was incorrect to which he then tried to blame my bank!!
He was then extremely rude and aggressive when I said I wanted to speak to the manager and he proceeded to put the phone down on me!!
I called straight back and issued a complaint to which he then alleged I had sworn at him and he was in fact still on the phone but not speaking to me??!! What??!!. I certainly did want to swear at the rude insolent arrogant upstart at that point!!!!!!
So now I will be issuing a formal complaint and wanting an explanation.
BUT if you do book DO NOT let them swipe your card or you''ll find you end up paying twice!!!!!!!! As well as having to deal with staff that DO NOT know customer etiquette...
