Our 3rd time this year. On arrival, no welcome, found we had to purchase dishwasher tablets, loo roll, kitchen roll. In all the self catering places we've rented, we've never had to do this. Is this expected of oversees visitors too ? A little bit disappointed really, no real customer contact or service, this does make a difference, especially when you are a returning customer.

We have been to Pitlands twice now to visit family and friends in the area. Our Newfoundland dog and parrot were made most welcome. Unfortunately the parrot picked up the smoke alarm (which occasionally went off when the toaster was used) and the owners found this funny and she was doing this all down the M5. We cannot praise enough the accommodation and how lovely the owners are - we even had family and friends round for a bbq and nobody minded. We made friends with the couple next door and have been on holiday with them.since. The New Inn was great and we had many laughs up there especially at the lawn mower racing, which is taken very seriously!! Keep up the good work. Pete and Sue Cornwall

Room Tip: We stayed in the bungalows twice.

What a stunning location, in a beautiful hidden valley. Amazing views from the rental properties, friendly owners, and a great games room and hot tub. We stayed in one of the lodges, which offer a lot of space for the very competitive price. It had everything that you might have wanted, in a very homely, cottage style. If you prefer something a bit more modern and minimal then go for the one of the newer properties, which we also looked round. We had a keen and experienced fisherman with us, the fish were literally jumping onto his hook on one of the lakes, whereas the other lake proved much more challenging. We've done several of these lodge type holidays with fishing over the last few years and this was a total gem.

We stayed in one of the new lodges. They were lovely and spacious. The area in general had amazing views and was so quiet. Cant wait to go back

Room Tip: If you have children, its better to go peak times so that all the attractions in the area are open.

I don't usuially write reviews but after the week we spent at Pitlands felt that I had to. From the minute we drove down from the road into the farm you could tell it was special. The countryside around is stunning and the farm itself looked perfect,.The grounds were well kept and the lakes looked ideal for fishing. The accomodatioon was first class and the owners were available at all times to answer questions and generally advise us on the area including some of the best pubs for food and drink that we have been to. It had been difficult to find out info about the two lakes and was a bit worrIed as some of the more recent fishing hoildays have been a bit disappointing but not this one. The easy lake was... easy but with a it of patience some excellent roach and rudd were caught all over 1lb. The difficult lake was a challenge especially as the fish were spawning but there are some big carp and tench in there. At least half a dozen good fish were caught from the tough lake one of which looked to me to be over 20lbs- Norman or Ant - send the photo so they can show it on their websise.
I could go on but in summary we have a UK break every year and this is by far the best we have had !
Thanks to you all at Pitlands

Oct 30th 2010-Nov 3rd rented PITLANDS BUNGALOW, comfy cottage with real fire and a handy outdoor shed for fishing tackle etc. Weather was very kind. The fishermen were happy with their catches with a good variety of fish. Lovely place that provides BB as well as self catering. Diane the owner was very pleasant and obliging.
A good place to relax and un-wind. Enjoyed the animals dogs, pigs, goats and chickens.
Ladies be sure to pamper yourselves and pay a visit to Lisa, the on-site therapist. We had Hot stone Massage and Back massage highly recommended. Unfortunately didn't get round to using the Hot tub, maybe next time. We hope to return soon. Bonny :)
