“Great”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 May 2014

Have just got back from a 3 night stay at Maes y Mor, and it was great, central, and very clean. The beds were really comfortable and I was very impressed with the standard of the fixtures, and at a great price too! Having somewhere to park off the road was an added bonus. The booking process was very easy, and Mererid replied very quickly to e-mails. Would definitely stay again when in Aberystwyth!

We stayed in the family room downstairs. I had booked a double room with a shared bathroom but we were put in this room as that room was taken. It was lovely to have an upgrade to a room with a bathroom in it. The room was very big with a lovely comfortable double bed which we slept in, and two single beds which were handy for our things! It was a little dark as it was on the ground floor, but we only used it really for sleeping so that was fine. Kettle and coffee etc in the room was useful, and the shower was fine. We were greeted in a lovely friendly manner and had everything we needed. Would definitely stay again!

Stayed here a few years back in an upstairs double and booked again as was a very pleasant experience. However this time around the landlady "upgraded us" to the downstairs family room which was almost pitch black - tiny window letting in light at the back of a long cold room next to the front door. Apparently an upgrade due to the en suite shower, again cold and dark. We weren't given a choice in this upgrade. So unhappy I could have cried. Also they had photographers there at the time who requested we partook in a video for the website, which was ironic as we were just coming back to pick up our stuff having found somewhere else to stay. Didn't stay the night - room was too depressing. Found somewhere else and snuck out, having paid for the pleasure.

Room Tip: For the love of God, not downstairs.

We stayed her for two nights with one night in between elsewhere. For the first night we stayed in a double and a shared bathroom which we didn't realise and I'm not a fan of sharing bathrooms but as long as you get in there before someone rudely makes a mess of it you're fine. The standard of the place is 8/10 very clean and tidy and generally lovely apart from a few bits the need changing or fixing. But on checking in she had to come from somewhere else to let us in there was no bell so we had to ring from our mobile. She, I'm assuming the owner literally has no ability to be welcoming just grumpy looking but she was nice enoughish. as we were being shown to our room we were offered the apartment for our second nights stay for the same price which was amazing so we said yes. And although there was still price stickers on a lot of things and we had a kids party thumping above us the apartment was amazing so lovely. And no noise from neighbours in the morning. very warm and nicely decorated. I highly recommend this place, especially the apartment and if you can get your own bathroom inside do so.

Room Tip: Try and get your own bathroom or the apartment

My husband and daughter stayed here for the night on a recent trip to Aber. At the point of booking it was a choice of a twin room with a shared bathroom or a double with en-suite. They opted for the double but then the owner got in touch to offer an alternative - an apartment around the back of the hotel. When they arrived, they rang me to gloat! They were delighted with it! It had an open plan lounge/kitchen/ diner with a separate double bedroom and bathroom. The sofa turned into a bed. There were tea and coffee making facilities with fresh milk...and a box of Maltesers, courtesy of the owners.
They had a very comfortable night stay and were able to make their own breakfast in the morning. They were delighted with Maes-Y-Mor! I'm looking forward to the whole family staying there!!

Room Tip: Ask for the apartment if it's available...

Stayed in the apartment and it was AMAZING! I would highly recommend the apartment here, especially if you are staying for a few nights. Its lovely to have somewhere so cosy, it really did feel like home as soon as you walked in.

This is by far the best place to stay in Aberystwyth. I have stayed many times and am always so impressed. Even if you are not in the apartment, every room is so beautifully decorated, you get such a warm welcome and it really is a home away from home.

Also the beds are so comfortable, never had a bad nights sleep in all my years staying here.
