tonight was the first time i had set foot in the Rhyd-Y-Pennau Inn and i can most definitely say i will be going back.we were part of a large party celebrating a birthday and the staff were outstanding taking various orders and dealing with it all in their stride. The food was outstanding and i can highly recommend the Reef & Beef, one of the best steaks i've ever had and there was plenty of it and the home made chips were beautiful. All of our party enjoyed all of their food and had very full and satisfied bellies.Thank You very much for a brilliant night.

Whilst on holiday my boyfriend and I thought this looked a nice place to have a sunday carvey, however it soon became obviously that first impressions can definitely be wrong.
Inside the establishment is outdated and generally looked like it all needs a good clean, however the staff seemed friendly so we thought we'd give it go. We were seated on one of the many ripped chairs, at a table that looked like it had barely been cleaned with a very outdated and tatty plastic table cloth. The table cloth being too small for the table appeared to just be used to sweep all the crumbs under it.
Not to judge a book by it's cover we went up for our carvey to be given the choice of 3 very dry looking meats and vegetables literally swimming in boiling water. Presumably to keep the vegetables warm but instead it just made them mushy and the serving spoons too hot to handle. After a disappointing meal we decided to have a dessert as it was only £1 extra, however I now wish we'd saved the pound! We both ordered toffee sponge and ice cream (which should be served hot) however they both came frozen. So we sent them back and instead of giving us fresh desserts they simply warmed up the old ones slightly. Which just resulted in the sponge still being cold and the ice cream melted!
Honestly one of the worse dining experiences we have ever and for £8.95 per person a complete rip off. Needless to say we will never be returning and encourage others not to bother either.

Need I say more? You can't go wrong with a place that makes chips from scratch! None of that frozen rubbish in this lovely, traditional Welsh pub.

The food was great, lamb shank cooked to perfection, the service was great, the waitress was bubbly and enthusiastic. There was a short wait for food as they were under staffed but all our food was cooked beautifully so I can't complain. Definitely be going there again.

We arrived at 7.30pm ordered the food straight away. However we were given the starter an hour later. 30 minutes later we were then given our main which was not cooked enough.

The waitress was pleasant and apologised for the delay. They were definitely under staffed. Felt sorry for the waitress as she was getting all the grief off customers.

While we were there, there were only 4 tables full, 3 of the tables complained about how long it was taking. More people were coming but the waitress was turning them away and it was only 8pm.

The food wasn't up to much either. The menu has changed, the food is over priced and there wasn't much food.

We went to this pub about a month ago and it was the same. We thought it was due to be busy but after this time we would definitely say we will not be going there again.
