Owner description: Travelling on the Vale of Rheidol Railway is the finest way to see the stunning Rheidol Valley. We pass through wide open fields, woodland and rugged mountain scenery as the line twists and turns clinging to the hillside gradually climbing nearly 700ft (200m)from Aberystwyth to reach our destination at Devil’s Bridge. Birds of prey such as Red Kite and Buzzards are regularly seensoaring high above the valley floor and breathtaking views can beenjoyed by all.

Great narrow gauge Railway. Lovely clean carriages and also heated a little. Steam Engine spotless. Pleasant staff at Aberystwyth and Devils Bridge. Also friendly footplate staff.
Fares a bit expensive but gift aid and get a voucher to spend in the shops and cafe. Which offset the cost a bit.
Had coffee and cake at the tea room at Devils Bridge. Good service here also.
Would recommend this railway.

Try to pick a sunny day as the views are stunning on the way up and down.

Waterfalls also stunning try to pick a day after heavy rain in the hills.

Booking on line to ensure we got a seat on the morning train from Aberstywyth to Devils Bridge we upgraded to first class. First class was full and as it was a lovely day it probably would've been more enjoyable to sit in the open carriage to fully enjoy the view. Meandering up the hillside it was a slow climb to the a Devils Bridge. We had just enough time to wander quickly down to see the spectacular three bridges - just pay £1 to get through the turnstiles and a get back in time for an icecream from the cafe before boarding the train. On the way back down the locomotive was at the front which obstructed our views a bit but this was the only negative. A thoroughly enjoyable trip through the Welsh countryside

Not cheap, but good value. Journey up to Devils Bridge pulled by steam loco (some hot soot, so take old, thick clothes). Scenic ride, and a great viewpoint for the beautiful Red Kites. At Devils Bridge there is a Chocolate Shop, and the Hafod Hotel, as well as a small cafe. Will visit again.

Lovely steam train, the views are excellent! Well worth taking your camera for them. Comfortable train but definitely need to wrap up warm, particularly in winter weather. Staff were excellent and knowledgable as well!
