“Cosy and in an excellent location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 May 2012

We were given a warm welcome on arrival by the owner/manager Louis and this warmth lasted throughout our stay. On first appearances, it seems a slightly quaint, chintzy place and our room (room 2) had the look of a ship's cabin with its compact dimensions and wooden ceiling. However, it proved to be very cosy and comfortable with plenty of hot water for the shower, a good tv picture/quality (have found this is not a given in many places) and we even found an allergy-free pillow in a cupboard which was ideal as we'd forgotten to ask about this. A cooked breakfast was included which was tasty and the fact they used lovely bread for the toast was a welcome detail (again not always the case in other places). The location is excellent, just round the corner from the seafront and the picturesque Aberystwyth Castle. It was peaceful even on a Saturday night, although the town centre is only a short walk away. Although our room didn't have a good view, I think some of the rooms do have sea or Castle views (would need to check) but this didn't matter as in a couple of minutes we'd walked to the promenade to drink coffee (from a handy beach hut kiosk) on the well maintained picnic benches facing the sea (also handy for sitting on with a late night pizza from the town centre), before roaming around the Castle ruins . We'd been staying here while visiting the Machynlleth Comedy Festival and if you don't mind a half hour drive, it's easy to get there & back and we found it a handy way to see a bit more of the area.

This is a family run guest house.
My relatives were staying there and regrettably left the hotel keys in the room whilst they went out. Returning quite late, the host's were very polite and helpful in coming from elsewhere in Aber to open the hotel for us.
The lessons were well learned and my rellies accidentally took the room keys with them when they left.
The keys were mailed back - and everyone was happy with the transaction.
But seriously, this was a nice experience for the relatives from Canada and was a good showcase for the town.

Great location, very near the sea front, only a few minutes walk from the town centre and easy parking on the street (this may be an issue in high season). The owner was incrdeibly friendly and knowledgeable on the area. He happily looked after my 'special' bread and sausages to be cooked for breakfast (gluten and wheat free) and the breakfasts were lovely. He helped us with ideas of things to do in the area (staying for 3 nights). The Guest house it self was very comfortable, recently decorated and clean. The room had everything you need, comfy bed (extra pillows available in every room), tea, coffee and water. There was even a tea towel for those people that like different drinks between room servicing, clean towels, soap, shower gel etc. T.V. and plenty of storage space for those who don't travel so light. Reasonably priced too.

We have been visiting Aberystwyth for over twenty years, ever since we left our permanent home there when we moved to Kent, as we enjoy visiting the town and our daughter who still lives there, We always stay at Glyn Garth! Our original host, Betty, who ran the guest house with her husband Mike and son Louis, has sadly since died but Louis continues to run this pleasant B&B to her standards. The rooms are individually decorated (often with items bought on the family's holidays abroad) and are always spotlessly clean. The full Welsh breakfast is always well-cooked and our vegetarian requests catered for.

Room Tip: If you have walking difficulties ask for a room on one of the lower floors as the stairs are quite s...

Stayed here a couple of times, excellent value for money, clean, tidy rooms in a decent location just off the sea front by the south beach. Well worth a visit.

My fiance and I were in Aberystwyth for a weekend trip, and the Guest House was great. It's only a few steps away from the beach and a quick walk to downtown. The manager (owner?) was very friendly and accommodated our requests for meals outside the normal time. Some of the bathrooms are shared, which can be odd if you're not experienced with B&Bs, but it wasn't a problem for us at all and the Guest House was reasonably priced. Would definitely stay there again when in Aberystwyth.
