“do not book this hotel”

we are not joking when we say that this is not a hotel. it is a collection of grubby rooms and filthy bathrooms with broken showers. the bar consists of 1 bar tap at a counter beside reception and reception is a shelf. the price is a joke for what you get. we paid 89 sterling for one night whereas we stayed in a real 4 star notel the hilton in newport for 58 sterling. im sorry i did not read reviews before i booked. i can not understand the few good reviews it ha got because as i said before this is not a hotel and how they got their ratings i just dont know. so once again do not book this kip. sleep in your car or try the hilton areal 4 sar hotel.

me and my partner stayed there late july and it was awfull, i booked it and on my booking i got told that the room would be ready for our arrival at 12, when we got there we got told it wouldnt be ready for another hour, we had just spent a few hours on the train we just wanted to put our feet up and get changed, but instead had to walk around for a while, once we got to the room the lock took ages to open it didnt look like it had been changed for sometime, the decor was extremely dated and poorley kept
there were variouse things wrong with the room, in the bathroom the shower would not stay up neither would the shower curtain!! the sink was cracked and the window lock was rusted and had fell off and been left on the side!! the hairdryer packed up within 5 minutes of it being used, the headboard was not attached to the bed, the handel of the wardrobe came off in my partners hand, there was also blood on one of the towels
because of my age i didnt feel confident to complain an therefore got totally ripped off with the £85 i payed, the breakfast was just warm,
this hotel is poorley kept and should be inspected by health and safety.
i have went to abbey plenty of times bu i asure u i will never set foot in this building again.
i am utterly shocked it even has any stars; it should be throughly checked and shut-down till the up keep can be done!!
kids should not be near it either the windows are really unsafe!!

We had stayed at the Four Seasons in the past and had quite a pleasant stay, not so this time!

We arrived at about 7.30 and were checked in. When we got to our room, we found that we had not been given the double room that we had booked the previous day, but a twin room, with the beds pushed together. The beds were at different heights and although there was a sheet across them, there were two single duvets.

We went to reception to complain to be told that they had no other rooms, that there had been a problem and that they had students. They could not tell us why they had accepted the booking so close to the date if they had a problem. I told the receptionist that we wanted to see if we could book in somewhere else and would want a refund if we could get other accommodation. The receptionist phoned her boss and we were offered a £15 discount. As it was late and we knew that there had been little availability in Aberystwyth the day before, we stayed - we had no real option but to stay or go back home. No explanation was given for why we had not been told on booking or when we arrived at the hotel that we would not get the booking we had paid for.

The room was cramped and very dated. Think cheap 80’s pine and avocado bath suite! It had not been renovated as it says in the hotel blurb. The bathroom was not very clean.

The bed was very lumpy and uncomfortable and the rooms noisy. Invest in earplugs if you do not want to hear what your neighbours are up to !

The breakfast was very basic, using the cheapest of ingredients. My fried egg was raw in places. The coffee is instant and vile.

Whilst we were eating breakfast, a young couple came in and were seated by the waitress on the only clean table which was set for 6 people. About 5 minutes later, a rather loud woman came in a complained to them that they should not be sitting there as it was a table for 6.The loud woman kept going on about it until the waitress asked them to wait in the lounge for an available table. I felt sorry for the couple who were only sitting where they were being told. It was cery embarrasing.

We will never return to this hotel (we stay in Aberystwyth often in the summer). Even at the £75 we paid after the £15 was refunded, this hotel offered very poor value for money.

Booked well in advance only to be told on arrival that there was a problem with the rooms. We were offered alternative accommodation in a house around the corner with shared bathroom no en suite as we'd asked for. Ten people sharing a bath room we found out on our return to the rooms, yet the hotel had accommodated a family of four adults and two children, which had booked into a sister hotel the same day as we were told there was no room for us. On checking this is a common practice. The house we were moved to had no fire escape, fire extinquishers or emergency lighting and we were on the top floor !!! Desperation made us stay. Be aware of all the hotels this person owns in Aberystwyth as it seems you wont be in the one you booked !! One member of staff on in the dining room, she was trying her best but had had no training and tables were piled up with dirty dishes. Would not recommend this chain of hotels.

Stayed in this hotel for one night, after been transferred from the belgrave hotel just around the corner, apparantley they were double booked. dissapointed room was dusty floorboards broken in en-suite and sealant around bath bodged up and very dirty, toilet badly stained and smelly! breakfast was average. Not worth £95 for double room.

Stubled accross this hotel by accident when looking for somehwere to stya for a girly weekend away. They had a suite to accommodate all five of us, with an ensuite bathroom with a jacuzzi bath.. It was excellent.

The hotel staff were lovely, the breakfast was delicious. We could not believe how lucky we were.

We are definitley returning to this hotel.

We stayed for one night at this hotel, receptionist was quite friendly. The twin room booked had mould growth in the bathroom above the shower and was very dirty.Single room was reasonable and clean but small and had tatty furniture.Bar area was ok but refurbished lounge looked smart through the door glass but was always kept locked.
Overall, this hotel does not deserve any of its AA 2 Star ratings and needs a total refurbishment. It is very poor value for money and we will not be returning there ever. You would be better off booking into one the many excellent guest houses or hostels.
