“An Idyllic Country Retreat”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 April 2013

I was put up here when I spoke in Aberystwyth and loved staying here. Our room looked out over green fields filled with sheep owned by the hotel. One morning I went out with the owner to feed the sheep and got to meet the very friendly black sheep, who came when he was called. Our room was quiet and cozy, and the breakfast was delightful and delicious. The WiFi did not reach our room, but was accessible from the main house, which had many quiet sitting areas in addition to the breakfast room. The hotel is a 10-15 minute drive from town through very pretty countryside. This is a delightful place to stay and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting a country retreat!

Dear mvictoriap,

Many thanks for the review, I was very pleased to read of the pleasant stay you had with us. Feeding our pet lamb (more of a sheep really now) is something that many of our guests love to do and hopefully adds to the personal detail we aim to provide.

Regards

Nathan

This is a fantastic hotel just outside the town - the views are stunning!

Food and service are superb - I was a lone guest and felt cared for throughout my stay. Staff were attentive without being over the top.

The room was on the top floor and the climb was rewarded with an amazing view.

In other parts of the country £85 would get you a single room with a view of a back alley! This is one of the best hotels I have stayed in - well done everyone at the Conrah and I look forward to my next visit.

This was our 2nd visit to the Conrah and will be going again for the night in May. Can't fault the place which has lovely views & spacious, clean & cosy rooms. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Lovely lounge area with reasonable drink and food prices. A lovey nights stay was topped off with a very enjoyable breakfast.

Thank you Nathan and team.

Room Tip: The first visit we stayed in room 9 which is on the top floow & entails a few stairs to climb...

Stayed at the Conrah to attend Aber University's Offer day. Our room was lovely and large and had been recently redecorated. Bathroom is a little dated -but it was fine. It did the job and the shower was lovely and hot and easy to control. It was a bit noisy in the morning from the person above us getting up at the crack of dawn to leave before seven (whereas we only needed to leave at 11) because its an old house predating soundproofing so floors squeaked a bit and you could hear coughing. However, to soundproof an old house between levels like you get in more modern hotels is very hard to do. It was but a minor irritation. The hotel is dead quiet otherwise. The staff are very welcoming and attentive. We had our evening meal there and the food was beautiful and lots of it too. The views from the restaurant and our bedroom were amazing. The breakfast in the morning was spot on too. Gorgeous Welsh breakfast. I would definitely recommend the Conrah and if my son chooses Aber I will be visiting it time and time again. It is far superior to what you get in the town. So glad we found it.

Booked for 1 night on business, double luxury room, the rooms was large and comfortable a bit tatty around the edges and dusty around light fittings and some switches, but was overall good, I was in room 17 which adjoins another room via a patrician wall, i could hear the tv from the room next door, the hotel is set in an amazing location which makes up for the small details, I would stay again,

Thank you Steve B for your recent review, I am glad you loved the hotel as much as we all do. Please accept my apologies for the noise and dust, we are always trying to improve our staff and only through these reviews and monitoring can we achieve this. We are currently in discussions with relevant trades people on how best to soundproof this wall, to be honest we have very few people mention this but are in the process to rectify it.

I look forward to seeing you again the next time you are in the area.

We have driven past the Conrah many times and was the first choice when deciding on staying in Aberystwyth. We were delighted to find a hotel that was more than happy to accommodate our family including our pet dog. The room was spacious with plenty of room for the four of us and we particularly liked the little lounge area that was idea for the dog to sleep in. The hotel staff were very friendly and attentive but not too over the top. The dog was welcome in the main bar and lounge area whhich was nice. We didn't have a meal in the hotel as we were meeting friends in Aberystwyth but the breakfast was superb...cooked to perfection. There was a lovely garden and wooded area that the kids and dog both loved. Thank for you a lovely stay and we will definately return.

Room Tip: The "dog friendly" rooms are not in the main hotel but less than a minutes walk away.

Stayed at short notice . Made very welcome by the staff all local a nice touch in these times.
The room was clean a little dated in the bathroom but good size and our shower had a sticking valve to hot or cold.
Nice bar area and lounge with a selection of games and newspapers .
Breakfast was served to a good standard. With a room looking out to the hills we found it relaxing.
Would stay again .
