Great location if you don't need to be in Aberystwyth town centre otherwise it's a bit of a trek - especially if travelling into town between 08.00 and 09.30.

Downstairs rooms are well maintained and very inviting and comfortable. Upstairs corridors and both bedrooms I've had are in need of some TLC. Nevertheless, the rooms are large and comfortable. Wi-fi was unreliable. Very quiet. Beautiful outside spaces which were a real plus during the summer's hot weather.

Good food in the restaurant and a decent breakfast.

The previous reviews sum the hotel up- once a building of grandeur, a little tired now. Very friendly staff. But I had to ask for a hair dryer and tea and coffee supplies were a little limited. Once the one packet of biscuits was eaten, none replaced them. I had to ask for another at 11.00pm as needed for meds. The sink did not drain properly. When mentioned, soon sorted out, but when paying £90 a night did not feel I should have to ask. Bed very comfortable and views from dining room excellent. Breakfast nice enough, but poached eggs overdone and had half a piece of black pudding! Had the chef run out of food? Or was he just having a bad day. I certainly did not have the marvellous breakfast described by other travellers. Just felt cutbacks were being made. However, staff extremely friendly and helpful and stay on the whole, an enjoyable one.

Room Tip: Was in outbuilding. Comfortable king sized with separate room with extra TV. But no wifi

The rooms are a little tired and a coat of paint would make an incredible difference.

Despite the room, the delightful & helpful staff make up for this. Interestingly we have stayed in 5 (4 star) hotels during our tour & this is the very first to bring us nibbles when we ordered a drink at the bar. Nice touch & other hotels should take note.

The food was excellent, unlike our previous hotel where the food was definitely of the 'cook in the bag' variety. The Conrah food is in a different league & despite being a party of about 40 on the classic car tour, there were no dramatics & the staff simply came to the tables with the various starters & main courses asking whether anyone had ordered the dish they had.

Again unlike the Lamphey Court where the manager kept shouting & insisting we put our hands up like naughty school children for each dish that he shouted out!!

So, a coat of paint in the bedrooms & this really would be an excellent hotel & its only this that lets it down.

Steps into the annex rooms make this difficult for wheelchair users, & a very steep and uneven drive up to & down from, our rooms also made it tricky. This is a little sad as once in the hotel - it's easy to get around.

So Conrah, get a coat of paint on the walls, fill in some of the potholes and you'll get a 5 ***** rating from me.

Thank you though, we felt cared for and special, your staff are wonderful and the food excellent.

Room Tip: Probably in the main hotel and I believe some rooms have already been updated - so request one of th...

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Conrah. We had a double and single room in an outbuilding, and therefore weren't in the main house. The rooms were functional and were quiet. We felt that the rooms could have been cleaner as there were cobwebs left in both rooms. If you are excepting luxury, this is not the place for you. Having said that, we would return and would stay in the main house as the communal areas there were peaceful and traditional. We must say that the food was exceptional and we had an excellent dinner and breakfast each morning.

Fabulous food and wonderful views!
Friendly helpful staff.
The actual fabric of the building behind the scenes lets the place down a bit but this doesn't detract from the other overwhelming plus points.

stayed here for a couple of nights last week, weather wasn't great but the views were truly stunning from our floor to ceiling window in our bedroom.
good points - plenty of parking, very quiet location, amazing views, fab food and really lovely staff
bad points - looks a little tired in places, walls to the room next door very thin.
would stay here again.
tip: dont put your towels to dry on the radiators as the staff fold them up (wet) and put them back on the towel rail in the bathroom! if you want dry towels in the evening i'm afraid you need to not be environmentally friendly and get clean ones every day!

Room Tip: room 16 has a stunning view
