We had the pleasure of staying at the Conrah for 1 night. The room was spacious and had an amazing view over the grounds and valley. The neighbouring sheep, complete the picture postcard. The bed was comfortable, with great pillows as were the bath towels and robes. The robes were a great added touch and we did not expect to have these in our room. We also both had dinner in the hotel restaurant and the food was delicious, i can highly recommend the bannoffie pie. Breakfast was al acarte and very relaxed. The hotel was full, but we had ample time to have fresh pastries and juices, followed by a full Welsh breakfast. The staff in the hotel are attentive and friendly, everyone we met were accommodating and willing to help.
The location was excellent, we were able to take a day trip to beautiful neighbouring towns/villages including NewQuay - which is not to be missed. Picturesque on the coastline.
If you are visiting Aberystwyth then I would take a trip to the Conrah, I believe that they have a new bar menu, as well as coffee and cake mornings all to come, part of the new management. We will be back to try these out.

Lovely Hotel in a spectacular location. Under new management and attention to detail could not have been better. Room and facilities were excellent with menu and food to match. Would highly recommend the Conrah both for it's peace and tranquility and for the home comforts. Also very well situated for access to all the local attractions. Congratulations to the new owners and the excellent staff.

We arrived in a pouring rainstorm after a 5-hour drive up the coast of Wales, onlhy to be told there was no record of our reservation. After showing a printed confirmation, the girl working the desk found a reservation hand writen on a date after we were to be back in New York. The solution was to tell us there was no room at the inn and they'd make a call to find a room. Fortunately, the last place they called (Feathers Royal, Aberaeron, 18 miles south) had a room for one night. We took it. As we left we noted the "under new ownership" banner. We would advise anyone making a reservation here to have a back-up plan. Their pencilled in ledger is the rule, not their computerized records.

We stayed for the saturday night of the easter week end. Staff pleasant and helpful, advising us on a lovely walk behind the hotel to the beach.....a very stoney beach. They have had many problems with the tv's over the last few weeks and we experienced the same. The room was large but not any of the advertised. The bathroom was old fashioned, tired and had a very soiled carpet. The views from the room were lovely. The windows are old and rattled all night due to the wind, so a sleepless night was had. We had our evening meal at the hotels restaurant, the menu is limited, pricey for the portion sizes and the room itself had no atmosphere. Leaving you whispering in conversation, perhaps some light background music would have helped. Over all a very average hotel.

We were treated to a night away from the kids by friends, arranged a babysitter and off we went! Arrived early evening and were shown to a lovely room (11)outside the hotel. Went over for dinner, no exterior lighting working so watch the kerb! Starters were lovely but OH's lamb and veg very salty. At 12am next door came home and thru the walls we could hear their entire conversation and what they were watching on tv, not their fault, no soundproofing at all! No-one on reception between 11pm and 7am just a mobile number. We just packed up and left as we couldn't sleep. Asked hotel for refund but hotel have refused even though we didn't stay all night and had no breakfast. Don't really seem to care. Took them nearly a week to acknowledge our email. Advertised free WIFI but we were told we couldn't get it in room 11.

We arrived from our 6 hour drive from London, the journey had been long as we were travelling with our newborn baby. We arrived at around 10pm but there was no one on reception and we had to actively seek them out, no one offered to help us with our bags which was very stressful as we had a lot of luggage. We were very hungry after the long journey and wanted to order room service but were told there was none, so we went to bed having eaten two bags of crisps from the bar (they didn't have peanuts or any other bar snacks).

When we went to our room (attic room 25) I noticed a fly sitting on the custard creams on the tea and coffee tray. Then I noticed another fly, and another and another, and so it went on. I went into a panic as I had a 6 week old baby and was terrified by the idea of them landing on her or carrying infection, potentially from something that had died in the attic. I immediately called reception and told them of the problem and to my astonishment I was told 'it was because it was a country hotel' and that they usually spray the room with fly-spray but they didn't want to do that because of the baby. It was clear this was routine for them. We had no choice but to stay in the room as they had no other rooms, the hotel was full. After a brief inspection it was clear the flies were coming through the ceiling and that something must have died in the attic, but the manager hadn't bothered to address the issue by getting pest control in.

Needless to say we slept very little that night, which wasn't helped by the sloping bed which sagged in the middle.

On leaving we were so tired that we had no energy to complain (which I regret) and when we finally found the receptionist we reluctantly handed over our credit card (which I also regret)

A terrible and very stressful stay.

Our stay was for only one night, and we did not have one of the rooms featured in the photographs on this site as it was a twin room, but it was large, with a bay window and one of the most incredible views I have ever seen. The bathroom was indeed a little tired looking, but had an original stained glass window that made up for everything! Having read some of the other reviews for this hotel, I would agree that the staff were a little distant, but I would regard this as a very professional attitude. Personally, when I stay at a hotel I do not relish personal enquiries regarding my itinerary and what I think of the countryside etc. We were immediately asked if we would like to book a table in the restaurant, which we were planning on doing in any case. We were lucky enough to be seated at the bay window featured in one of the photographs, and enjoyed a delicious meal served very efficiently. We were approached twice by staff to check that everything was to our satisfaction. Although our room was directly above the restaurant, it was quiet and we enjoyed a comfortable night. The only thing I could have complained about was the quality of the pillows - very flat, and only two of them, and we could have done with thicker ones or, indeed, an extra one. Breakfast was beautifully presented, and the coffee was excellent! All in all, it was a very enjoyable stay. The Conrah has an atmosphere and an old world feel which excuses its very few failings, and I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.
