“Enjoyed our stay”
Reviewed 14 September 2010

After a long drive from Holyhead ferry we finally arrived at the Conrah and were warmly greated by the new owner. She showed us to our room and made us feel most welcome. The room #10 was even nicer than it looked on their website with a wonderful view down the Vale of Yswyth. If it hadn't been so foggy, I'm sure the view would be spectacular. We liked the little touches, like robes and umbrellas in the room and offers to bring us scones to have with our tea in the room. We were very pleased with our dinner, as well. Neither my husband nor I were looking forward to driving back to Aberyswyth in the dark to find a place to eat. The menu had good variety at reasonable prices and the food was presented well and tasted great. We had porridge in the morning - it was delicious. Our only quibbles are that the bathroom smelt smoky when we first walked in, that the bed is not a king size as advertised but a queen (it was very comfortable anyway) and that we couldn't get their internet to work even at the reception desk.

We arrived in Aber with nowhere to stay, we drove past this one and thought it looked fantastic so we paid the extra (cost £90) rather than staying in the seafront B&Bs. Service was excellent, new owners very friendly.

The entrance hall was stunning, views from the lounge rooms were second to none. Our room was good quality but it wasn't in the main bit of the hotel. I thought it was cold on arrival but my fiance thought it was fine. The bathroom was obviously new and exceptionally clean, good shower. Only criticism is that the bathroom floor was freezing - it looked like slate tiles so should have under floor heating if it's a luxury hotel. Perhaps now they could compromise with a rug or providing slippers?!

Breakfast was exceptional! 5* service, 5* food and beautiful views. Really impressed!

TV reception appauling -but you don't go to a beautiful place like this to watch TV.

Good luck to the new owners, was a lovely hotel and had a good stay but I thought it was a little pricey given that it doesn't have a pool or something.

A very warm and welcoming hotel set in the beautiful welsh countryside. New owners Lynne and Roger are very friendly and approachable as are all of the staff we encountered. The room was very clean and had an exceptional view of the large garden. The bed was extremely comfortable. The hotel interior is very grandiose as befitting a traditional country house. The breakfast (included in the price) was of top quality and of varied choice. We didn't have the evening meal so we cannot comment. We would definitely come back again with our children but if you fancy a peaceful break without the family this is perfect.

I spent two days here (one night) with work colleagues from across Wales. My room was clean, comfortable and very tasteful., as was the bathroom. When it comes to food, my choice is quality over quantity every time, and the Conrah could not be faulted. The weather was perfect, and sitting outside enjoying a welcome drink with colleagues who by now are also friends was very relaxing. All of the staff were friendly and attentive, and the meeting room was light, airy and conducive to hard work. One small complaint was that we were asked if we wouldn't mind leaving the bar at 11.00 p.m. and moving to the lounge. We subsequently realised that this was in order that staff could close the bar, which effectively brought our drinking to a rather premature end (probably not such a bad idea when we still had a second day of hard toild to face!). I am now plannng to take my wife there in September for a birthday treat.

Stayed for one night recently as a 24 hour delegate for a conference.
Pros: Good conference room- light and spacious; very good service at all times- polite and responsive; nice buffet lunch; relaxing lounges and bar area with flat-screen tv.
Cons: stayed in a single room that needed updating- uninspired furniture and 1980s bathroom; main course in restaurant was disappointing, hotel grounds could do with some attention.
Overall- a comfortable, but average stay.

We adored the hotel, the location, the food, the staff were courteous, helpful and nothing was too much trouble.
We are going to go back and back to this hotel, days later I am still thinking about waking up to that spectacular view and wishing I was still there.
Thank you Conrah
