What a great day we had. Its free to get in to see the kites and walk around the site, you just pay £3 for parking. There is a lovely cafe and shop selling Kite paraphernalia. At 3pm the guy wheeled the barrow out with all the meat in and by this time the Kites had been gathering, circling, calling and sitting in nearby trees. They knew what the time was! There was a feeding frenzy which went on for about 15 minutes, plenty of time to take lots of photos. The lake had other birds such as Tufted Duck and chicks, Little Grebes and chicks, Coot, Great Crested Grebe, Mallard and a massive feeding station just outside the cafe with lots of Siskin, Greenfinch and Chaffinch all jockying for position. A totally enjoyable and relaxing afternoon.

Anyone interested in Red Kites, this place is a must. The lady guide gives a talk for about 10 minutes then you walk down to a viewing area where you get a great view of the Red Kites being fed. The day we were there(July 23rd 2014)there was between 130 and 180 birds coming in to feed. You will need a good zoom on your camera to get some close up photo's. Well worth a visit.

We visited in July and thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon. The kids, 12, 8 and 4 enjoyed the playgrounds and we all enjoyed a leisurely stroll around the lake. Really nice day out.

If you want to see the majestic Red Kite in all its glory this is the place to be. Hundreds of the birds turn up from everywhere for the daily feeding time of 3pm summertime, 2pm winter.

Worth the scenic drive for an unusual experience and an inexpensive day out. Set in the most beautiful scenery and a lovely spot for a picnic or you can buy food at the visitor centre and only £3 to park all day. Walks for all abilities -dogs on leads between 2-4 pm near feeding area.

The kites ( hundreds of them) feed at 3.00 in the summer and the sight is amazing and the sounds they make too give you goose bumps. Well worth the drive don't forget to take your camera!
