Stayed here as an end to a weekend in Wales. Staff friendly but rushed off their feet at check in. Booked a deluxe for 70 pounds, we were in room 4. A deluxe was advertised to have a spa bath on booking, we did not have this. We were also missing glasses and our second robe, when i asked for a replacement robe there was none :-/ the room was more like a standard double although having a sofa helped, it was a good size. The room was very warm overall and it was quite noisy as it was close to the road. The door also had some damage to it, not normally a problem but it is made of Asbestos and there was fibres. My partner is a surveyer. The continental breakfast selection was ok and my boiled eggs took a while to come, one more cooked than the other and soldiers were a mess. My partners scrambled eggs were obviously done in the microwave and were very over cooked. Nobody in the restaurant was asked if their food was ok. Overall it was in a good location.

Excellent location and value for money in the centre of Aberystwyth.
Friendly staff willing to help.
Will go back again in the summer for a slightly longer break to see more of what Aberystwyth has to offer.

We visit Aberystwyth occasionally to see our daughter at the University and wanted a convenient and not-too-expensive hotel for the weekend. Harry's seemed to fit the bill and after reading he Trip Adviser reviews we booked.
Let's describe the good features first! The hotel is positioned centrally with parking outside and a private car park behind the building. The staff were great - very welcoming and helpful - exactly what you want after a 4 hour drive. Turned out most of them were uni students. We had asked for a room that was not over the main bar/functions room and the third floor solved any noise problems from the bar. The room was very clean, modern with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. Coffee and tea with biscuits were provided. The shower room was excellent with great shower, large bath towels (no need to put new one each each day!). The hotel had good well stocked bar and pretty good dining room with reasonable albeit not exciting menu but our steaks were fine and good value. Cooked breakfasts were well cooked. Best thing about the hotel - the young pleasant staff!
OK - now the downside......the mattress was without a doubt the lumpiest most uncomfortable mattress that I have had the misfortune to sleep on. Room 11 is great but not for sleeping! Also it may be away from the bar noise but not the boiler which kept coming on and off every 10 minutes throughout the night. Breakfasts could so easily be better with some fresh fruit - not everyone wants cooked breakfast but the only alternative was cereal. A little imagination would improve it enormously. Finally there is no quiet lounge. The bar area has a large TV on all the time and the function room is always full of rowdy youngsters playing pool or watching football. I enjoy both but it really is like a student union bar (complete with security guards.
Would I recommend this hotel - yes if you don't mind noise and can check the mattress first. No if you want a reasonably quiet stay, and a good night's sleep

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms over the function room

I read a few reviews before booking this hotel, but after staying here for the weekend I have to say I disagree with some previous comments!
Harry's hotel was clean, fresh, the staff were absolutely amazing, couldn't be more friendlier or helpful to you if they tried, our room was also clean, we stayed on the first floor overlooking the street! Didn't have any problems with noise at all, although we were out late so wouldn't be able to comment about any noise from the bar.
The bistro food was second to none, tasty, fresh, and I would personally reccomend the Steak, mushroom & Guinness pie! The breakfast was also to a very high standard, again the staff at breakfast were excellent!
I would reccomend this hotel for a superb break away from it all!
We will most definately book this hotel again!
Well done to the management!

I had read reviews online before booking and they seemed very good. Too good?

In fact, the online reviews were pretty accurate and the recommendations were definitely merited.

Gemma on reception ws very friendly when we arrived early and allowed us to put bags into room though we'd arrived at 11 AM. Room 11 on second floor, no lifts – but not a problem. Room at rear of hotel so no problem with lights from street lighting at night. Nice and quiet, which was what we wanted.

Very clean and tidy hotel comfortable room, good ensuite bathroom, good shower, tea and coffee facilities in room.

Had dinner in restaurant downstairs. Sheree very courteous, friendly and helpful. Good meal, very reasonable prices. Reasonable amount of choice on the menu. However, as you are in the town centre there are plenty of other places you could go to for a meal. Chap behind the bar was also very helpful.

Very convenient location right in the town.

We would definitely use this hotel again and would recommend it to others. Extremely good value for money and all round good place to stay.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back will be quieter. Rooms at the front may be affected by street lights/traffic noise...

The room was tiny, the carpet badly stained and the room smelled badly of stale smoke. The coffee at breakfast was good and the breakfast itself reasonable but the hotel seemed very understaffed. The staff were willing, friendly and poite but trying to do too many jobs.

Stayed in Harry's for a midweek break. A double room on the first floor for 2 people for 2 nights for less than £130! Room was spacious and clean (bathroom was bigger than expected!). It did get a bit noisy in the evenings but nothing in excess so you were able to sleep. Parking was good (if down a bit of a tricky back road) and breakfast was decent enough. Didn't really encounter staff but they seemed friendly enough!
