“Great Position”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2014

Having read varying reviews on trip advisor I was apprehensive but I can say I have been very pleasantly surprised. The hotel is ideal if you are travelling by rail, just 5 mins walk from the station and a level walk at that. It is in the heart of the town so a further few minutes takes you to the sea front, and a great selection of restaurants. A very pleasant and friendly welcome greeted us, we arranged to leave our case and return to check in a little later, nothing appeared too much trouble. The hotel is clean and having requested a quiet room, we were allocated one on the top floor which was ideal it was spotless, and very quiet. ON the bedside table are a set of earplugs! so guess there may be times when it gets a bit noisier, although the Sat night we were there in August it wasn't. The hotel is a maze of corridors but you soon find your way around.
We ate in the hotel and had a very good meal, a discount was offered if you are staying which amounts to a 15% reduction. The food was hot, well presented and very enjoyable. Service was good in fact it was the same person who checked us in, so dispite a long day for them they were incredibly smiley and friendly and again good attention to detail.
Breakfast was a choice, buffet cereal bar, fruit juice and tea and coffee with the main breakfast ordered and served to the table.
thank you we would certainly stay with you again.

Room Tip: Remarkably quiet for an August Saturday night around the hotel, it is on a main road but we stayed o...

This was my second time staying at the hotel and i've got to say I had a varied experience. The front of hosue staff were very welcoming, friendly and efficient (although it would've been nice to be told what time breakfast was). Unfortunately we were placed in a very small room right on the top floor of the hotel and due to the hot weather the room was absolutely sweltering with not a lot of ventiliation. Also if you're going to have a fixed hairdrier in the room it would be handy to have a mirror next to it! On the plus side, the room was clean and decorated nicely.

My main gripe is that I came back from a night out in the town and could not get back into the hotel. The key card entry did not work, the doorbell was not answered and the "emergency phone number" went straight to answerphone (20 times I tried to phone it!). I ended up sitting on the doorstep for an hour, whilst constantly ringing, knocking the door and trying to phone the hotel. As a female who was on her own at this point it was not very reassuring from a safety point of view. I finally managed to get in because someone else who was staying at the hotel went for a walk around the back and found a fire exit that was wide open....not very safety and security conscious there!

If I do come back to Aber i would probably now contemplate staying elsewhere.

Room Tip: Do not request room 21! It's a tiny twin and far too hot to enjoy your stay. From a previous st...

Stayed briefly the night before the uni graduation day.

Good location close to the train station and coast.

Staff were very friendly on both check-in and checkout.

Room was comfortable and spacious, earplugs were provided in room which is a nice touch given the location (you do have to accept that you're staying above a busy bar if you stay here), bathroom was very nicely done out with a modern shower with great water pressure.

Only minor gripe was that the tiny tv was really too small to see from the bed, would suggest an upgrade given how cheap lager screens are now a days.

Overall very happy with the stay, clean and good value for money.

We had three lovely days around there. Enjoyed the room, the meals and the bar! The rooms on the front face onto a busy one-way through road and junction and the traffic starts early in the morning, though this didn't bother us. Light sleepers and lazybones might prefer rooms at the back! We'll be back!

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear of the hotel are quieter.

Great location only short walking to beach and old castle, Friendly staff, comfortable rooms and good food. We were 16 days in UK and had here the best meal. I would come back again to this lovely hotel.

This is a very good hotel, right in the centre and two minutes walk from the Promenade. Very friendly staff, nice rooms, excellent food (15% discount for residents!) and a good variety of beers in the bar. The room itself was spacious, with good facilities and very clean. Would definitely stay here again.
