The welcome was friendly and good and it had a good feel about the place - a restaurant, bars, Sky TV, a pool table- I expected much.

The route to the room involved a march uphill and down dale and while the room was large, the wardrobe drawer was broken and you had to walk uphill to bed. If you nudged the bedside table, the drawers opened (they were facing downhill).

The Free view TV would have been good, if there was a signal.

The atmosphere in the bars of an evening was fairly flat, which was a disappointment, but I suppose as a student town, the summer may not be the best time to visit.

However, the breakfast was great and while it failed in some aspects, it was an ok place to rest your head.

It was one of those holidays where we nearly stuck a pin in the map,we decided after a north, south, east west and my husband decided on wales and cardigan bay. After looking up on ta we decided on Aberystywth because it had a lovely steam railway. Now where do we stay? we decided on "Harry's Bar" hotel. Again looking up on ta,where would we be without it?
it was one of those hotels that was central nothing posh but then nothing wrong.

Having arrived and it was "one" of those journey's we found the hotel not too far infact just around the corner really about a 10min walk. The hotel came into view and it was like "Oh!" right well lets see?
As the saying goes "Never judge a book by it's cover" We walked into a reception that was modern/clean and the receptionist smiled took our names,we knew we were early and asked if our case could be kept secure until booking in time.
We then went out to explore.
Aberberystwyth what have you to offer,we went back to the rail stn to book up for the steam train,we were only going to be here for a cpl of days so what could we do in that time. We decided to have lunch then go back to harrys and book in.
Booking in was no problem and then we were told what floor and room. Oh! forgot no lift and we were in room 21 3rd floor 6 flight of stairs,so unless you are alergic to stairs, try elsewhere.
The room was lovely and had good views of,well! roofs, front st but nothing to complain about, everything else was normal.
Having sorted out our case,we then went to our trip on the steam train, and thats a story later about that.
We got back late and went straight to bed,and i went straight off what a bed!! what sheets!! this hotel has def got that "Wow bed" factor. No noise from anywhere, the sheets were soft like suede really good, never found them in anywhere else. And for 2 solid nights i slept like a log,(dont know what a log sleeps like?) Breakfast was good and everything on hand, we then went out to Newquey after the hotel gave bus times and that we could go on a boat trip and perhaps see dolphins,we did.
The hotel bistro was nice and quiet being middle ish of the week(thurs) and we ordered a lovely meal and no complaints there.
In all Harry's Bar hotel is worth a visit just bare in mind there is no lift, and good value for money we def will go back there. And we didn't see "Harry" either.......

Room Tip: As this hotel did not have a lift just make sure you ask for a room ground,or 1st floor

Stayed two nights B&b at Harry's in Aberystwyth. Comfortable room and good breakfast. Central location for beach and other attractions. Main problem is no lift, so if you are on the third floor and not so young as you once were it can be a bit of a struggle, especially carrying cases. But good value for money.

Room Tip: Third floow rooms are effectively small suites - two bedrooms and a lounge area - at no extra coat!

Went to Aberystwyth for an evening out and stayed at Harry's. Great place to stay. Central to everywhere in town and only a short distance from the train station. Food was lovely.Choice of breakfasts ! Staff very polite and friendly and very helpful. Seagulls can be noisy at night but earplugs are supplied in the room. Lovely touch. Would definitely recommend, and will be returning, even if it's just for a drink in the bar.
