We were offered two very different rooms - avoid the annexe! The main hotel however was clean, warm and well kept. The receptionist, barman, waitress, and cleaner were all friendly, efficient and welcoming. The breakfast was self service - as much or as little as you wish and was okay. Toast is nearly always cold in hotels isn't it?
Our family bedroom was on the top floor (there is a lift) and had a view of the sea. Small but adequate en-suite shower/loo/wash basin. Flat screen tv, and tea and coffee making facilities (topped up by cleaner). Decor was okay and room was tidy.

Room Tip: Avoid annexe. Most rooms have sea view

Our two night stay at the Marine was too short! Our room and bathroom were first class and the breakfasts were excellent - but it was the warmth and care of the staff which made our break so delightful. We will be back.

Room Tip: Well worht booking a room in the front for the sound of the waves and the lovely leather chairs in t...

If you fancy a workout while staying here, the hotel has quite a large gym in the basement. There are some running machines and cross trainers, as well as machines and free weights. Seems to attract a mostly male crowd, including sports students from the university

We stayed here one night. We booked ahead online, came by train, and were easily able to locate the hotel and walk to it from the train station. We had a room with a view of the bay, a huge and comfortable king sized bed, extra pillows (a must for me as I have a bad back and use the pillows to prop myself up a bit to sleep), everything was clean, the staff were friendly, and the breakfast was a full 'Welsh' breakfast, buffet style.

A bonus was the sitting area with comfortable chairs overlooking the bay where we relaxed for a bit before setting out to meet a friend and explore the town.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view in the main building.

we stayed at the marine hotel..while we had an open day at the university for my son...i thought it was a lovely victorian building..with a lot of character!! until we went inside...the reception area was spotless with a lovely seating area looking over the sea....we did tell them what time we were coming but my sons room wasn't ready and we had to wait for about 3 hours!!..but my room was ready so we went on up to my room....we had a lovely view overlooking the sea...the room was ok..not the cleanest ive stayed in..but ok...it was very cold in the room...until we found a plug in radiator!!! after 3 hours my sons room was ready...he was on the top floor...his room was freezing!!!..and he didn't have a radiator in his room so he stayed in with us till it was time for bed....i must say though the breakfast was wonderful..and the staff really friendly....i just think the hotel needs updating....and a good cleaning supervisor!!!

We diverted to Aberyskwyth at the last minute when we had to go there to get a smaller rental car than the one we picked up in Caernarfon (those Welsh roads are narrow!), so we didn’t have a reservation. The friendly TI suggested the Marine Hotel, and they had space for us. It is a much larger inn than we usually stay in, but we found it quite acceptable, if a bit dated. At least it has an elevator, which came in handy with all our bags. As we walked the very narrow and uneven hallway, we wondered what we had gotten ourselves into, but the room was very nice. We especially enjoyed having a bay window overlooking the promenade and the sea, which was churning up big waves. We had a convenient free parking space behind the hotel and left our car sitting idle for two nights and a full day while we explored Aberyskwyth on foot. The breakfasts were quite good in the hotel, and the front desk was helpful and efficient. All in all, it turned out to be a good experience for an unplanned destination.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a room facing the sea, unless the surf would keep you awake. We found it soothin...

when we arrived at the hotel it looked lovely by the reception, we then asked for a room as it was a last minute trip for us, there was a sea view room free. The price was very steep for a 3 star but me and my partner thought it looked nice, when we were given the keys the receptionist told us that our room was down the street not in the actual building we were in, bit confusing. When we got to the room it was not good the towels smelt very funny the room was not clean, cups and spoons for the coffee and tea were dirty and there were no light bulbs in some of the lights! Me and my partner were in bed to our surprise we heard someone putting a key in our door then they came in. Went straight down to reception to ask what the hell was going on receptionist has double booked the room, manager did not really seem to care one bit about what had happened i was very unhappy after i had mentioned to him what if we were not in the room and my laptop ect had been pinched, his reply was that that would never happen, he apologised and said there was nothing more they could do. He really did not seem to care at all. We asked for a refund on the room as we did not want to stay. The manager said they would not give us a refund as we had used the bed! I work in a hotel myself and his attitude along with the two receptionist who sat there and did nothing absolutely stank! really was disappointed with the hotel the only thing that was nice was the view of the sea through the cracked dirty window and the breakfast was ok. Would never stay there again! EVER!
