“Very nice place for a family stay”
Reviewed 4 August 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We stayed at the Doleos Cottage of Marilyn during 1 week for our holiday and all of us (parents and children aged 10 and 16) enjoyed it. The cottage is very comfortable for a family, perfectly equipped and it is a short drive of 5-10 min to Aberystwyth and the sea. Marilyn and her husband were very welcoming and prepared everything for our arrival, including first breakfast!

THANK YOU very much indeed for being my 50th reviewer! Thank you for your kind comments and I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay in this stunning part of Wales. It was a pleasure meeting you and your charming family and I regret not having learnt my French at school! I hope to see you return someday.

“Excellent accommodation that exceeded our expectations.”
Reviewed 19 July 2016 for a stay in June 2016

Doleos Cottage is an exceptionally clean, bright, spacious and very comfortable detached accommodation located in picturesque countryside just a short drive from Aberystwyth. Owner Marilyn clearly takes great pride in ensuring the cottage is presented immaculately. The welcome pack of tea, coffee, biscuits, milk etc was greatly appreciated, along with the provision in the cottage of a number of little extras, such as a sewing kit. She has thought of everything needed for a comfortable, care-free stay. We highly recommend Doleos Cottage.

“Well worth the money and hidden gems.”
Reviewed 13 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

The owners are very friendly and happy to oblige any requests within reason. The cottage is clean and fairly well equipped.
We went to several restaurants and cooked for ourselves over the seven days we were there.
As there is no wifi signal we went to Costa Coffee to use theirs which meant we had to go out instead of sitting in. We enjoyed having no signals because we are usually busy with emails and phones, so it made a pleasant and peaceful change.
Aberystwyth is only a short drive away and has a reasonable amount of shops to view as well as loads of cafe's, bars and restaurants. Even when it rained we still managed to have a good time.
If you are a bird watcher, we were delighted to be there when the farmers were baling up the cut grass as there were a family of Kites (4 in total) soaring above the cottage almost every day. A lovely sight to see and privilege to witness it.
We also viewed the Devils bridge with waterfall. Hard work climbing up and down the stairs (Jacob's Ladder) but worth the effort even if I was tired when I reached the top on the other side of the walk.
Well worth a visit and say hello to Marilyn for me.

Liked best: The kites made the holiday for me.
Liked least: The recycling system. Not suitable for wheelchair users but ok if you use a walking stick.

THANK YOU very much Robert for your generous review and I'm delighted you enjoyed your holiday at my cottage and the surrounding areas. I'm sorry I forgot to tell you that you could use the Wifi up at the farmhouse conservatory where we set a table and easy chair for the purpose. Now the baled meadow grass has been collected we can see the rabbits along the hedges - some are so big another visitor thought it was a fox! Having such gloriously natural surroundings thrills and delights me. I do hope you and Marie return soon as you were the perfect guests - thank you.

“Faultless !!”
Reviewed 24 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

We have just spent a fantastic five days at the cottage , what can we say other than faultless , spotlessly clean , light and roomy , the beds had beautiful Eyptian cotton sheets and a very comfortable bed . We was greeted by the owner Marilyn who made us very welcome and showed us around the home , we were really pleased with our choice especially when our dog Meg was also allowed to stay . And couldn't believe that there was tea coffee bread butter jam , toilet rolls dishwasher tablets and fluffy white towels ...
We will most definitely be back to the cottage ,Thankyou

Awwwh! THANK YOU soooo much. I'm truly delighted you liked my cottage that much, makes all the effort wothwhile. I strive to make it even better and since successful surgery on my right wrist I can deal with the garden and landscaping so the outlook will continue to improve. The amazing location for the cottage deserves to be enjoyed and it thrills me to have visitors to stay, especially when so kind and considerate. I will welcome you back with open arms.

THANK YOU once again for kindly taking the trouble to review the cottage. Always a pleasure to have you both to stay - my favourite visitors - and hopefully when you next visit the gardens will be even lovelier, that is if the 'rabbits' leave the plants alone!

“Ideal weekend away”
Reviewed 3 June 2016 for a stay in May 2016

Marilyn met us at the cottage with a warm smile and a few bits of shopping which she had purchased for us. There were four us staying in the cottage and it was more than adequate for our needs. We ate all of our meals outside on the beautiful patio which overlooked the glorious Welsh countryside. The beds were extremely comfy and the cottage had been decorated and maintained to a very high standard. I cannot recommend this place, or Marilyn's hospitality enough. Thank you for our lovely break!

This is a delightful cottage; set in the open countryside but with ease of access to the town.
We have stayed in many holiday cottages over the years and this is truly one of the best.
