Description: Our 5 star food hygiene rated Cafe has been a part of the Aberystwyth cafe scene since 2004 when we operated from premises in Cambrian Place before moving to 26 Chalybeate St where we established a reputation for great coffee and excellent service. Expansion took us to our current location at 6 Chalybeate St in Dec 2012. The new premises has 60 covers and enables MG's to bring our excellent service, coffee and food to a wider customer base. MG's is a truly independent and local business with an ethos of buying fresh produce locally and providing a Welsh biased menu with delights such as Welsh Rarebit, Cawl and Glamorgan Sausages. We use meat from the famous and award winning Rob Rattray's butcher (next door) and are developing a reputation for our MG's Burger as well as Gails cheese and potato pie.. All our coffee is ethically sourced and we only use the very best Arabcia beans from Colombia. At the heart of MG's is a customer service ethos that always puts the customer at the heart of everything we do. Customer comments, good and bad are positively encouraged to ensure MG's is always at the leading edge of delivering great customer service.MG's has disabled toilet facilities as well as baby changing and high chairs available. “No problems here !!”

Highly professional in every way.
Friendly service. Very helpful staff.
Good menu choice. Excellent local produce.
The big thing here is that extensive gluten free options are available.
Very difficult usually to even get staff to understand what gluten free means.
No problems here.
Try MG's……you will not be disappointed.

“best bar none”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

This place is amazing, they have a lovely menu along with daily specials. I love home made soup and theirs is top notch served with delicious bread. My husband and I have enjoyed several meals here and have enjoyed every sing one. Our aim is to work our way through the menu. The cakes are also delicious and varied, all can be washed down by a great variety of excellent drinks made exactly to your specifications. The service is impeccable and very friendly, nothing is too much trouble, even for the very particular. I will be going back as often as I can. They accommodate all; singles, couples, families, friends, business. It is a great place to have a nice relaxing time, whatever time of day it may be and whether you want to eat or just drink, you never feel like they are waiting for your table or that they want you to move on. This place is exceptional, I can't speak highly enough of the place. It is well worth a try, you will not regret it

“Nice place for a late lunch”
Reviewed 9 August 2014 via mobile

We had a late lunch, two adults, two children. The food was good and the specials menu had some interesting items such as a goats cheese stromboloni, and pan fried chicken. It was quite expensive but good value. The atmosphere was a little flat and dominated by a group of young women celebrating the birth of a child. Would probably return.

“A bit off-putting”
Reviewed 27 July 2014

Decent enough food, on the expensive side for what you get - what's with giving one piece of tomato and two pringles on the side?!
Plenty of seating so will often be a place of last resort. Unfortunately have been put off often by how the staff are often in your face, invading personal space. I think they're trying to be friendly but it backfires.

Thank you for your comments, your views are much appreciated. The Pringles, tomatoe, onion , peppers and cucumber are a side garnish to enhance the appearance of the plate. Larger side salads are availed should you require one.
We train our staff to very high standards of customer service and whilst this tends to be appreciated by the vast majority of our customers there will be times when they may be "over enthusiastic". We will refine our training such that they are better able to recognise differing customers requirements. We are pleased that you find our food of a good standard.

“Beautiful Platters”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

I first thought that my reason for coming more often to MG's was for the mango Chai Latte, but this soon became only one of the reasons.

I have been honoured to taste the MG's platter which is well worth the money paid for it. The pork and egg pie is beautiful (though the pastry a tad too salty), the cheese a great accompaniment, and the chutney is the best I've had.

The staff at the Cafe are very friendly and the female chef in house takes real care of her food and of patrons. And with a place which appears to be busy with people, I have always managed to find a seat.

The only qualm I did have when I first went to the Cafe was the uncertainty of whether orders were taken at the tables or the till as the front bar area only contained staff who were busy with jobs and didn't look like they wanted to be disturbed. However by the second visit, I have warmed a lot more to the place and have not had any bad experiences with the food or the drinks.

Diolch yn fawr iawn MGs - gobeithio i ddod nol yn fuan.
