The hotel is a lodge type building seperate but adjacent to a marstons pub, it is newly built and therefore is clean and in good order, everything worked well, air con was a godsend, and a good (LG) TV, shower and bath was very good, The bedside shelves are a bit small, no comfy chair and no drawers for clothes so had to live out of a suitcase, not really good enough, however bed very comfortable and a good nights sleep was had on both nights of our stay. Check in is at the pub which was a bit confusing to start with but once found was efficient and friendly. we had a meal on the first night which was well cooked and came out quickly. Breakfast was ok but lacked the choice of some equally priced hotels, a selection of cereals, apple or orange juice and a few yoghurts, croisants. As previous reveiwers have commented, the coffee cups at breakfast are not only filled to the brim so not allowing for milk to be added but also you could have stood the spoon up in it as it was so strong, despite it being almost undrinkable we were not offered any refills and only one slice of toast, would expected a little more 'service', not a good start to the day, Breakfast staff seemed disorganised, there where plenty of staff but on the first morning we were asked by three different waitresses if we had placed our order, they didnt seem to have allocated areas.
Overall a good hotel, time will tell if it stays that way, It is expensive for what it is, but that said I found Aberystwyth on the pricey side anyway, maybe because of the university. would consider staying again, but would depend if I could get a better deal elsewhere.

I recently visited the premises only to have a meal and therefore I cannot comment about the accommodation. The premises were clean and tidy and the staff were attentative. The young waitress began to take the order but did not seem to have an idea on the choice or what the basic reqirements were whilst taking the order. However I just put this down to inexperience but it showed when the food come. We ordered chips with a pie and it came with veg, we ordered a side salad with the sandwitch that came with chips and the roast chicken came out with the correct order but some time after the two other meals. It was relatively busy but not that busy. The portions were fair but the food lacked taste and was bland. The veg with the pie was cold and 'rubbery' and an additional amount of salt added to the meal to make it palitable. All in all I shall not recommend the place to others .

The Starling Cloud is a Marstons pub restaurant with motel style accomodation in a seperate block across the car park. Check-in was swift and efficient. Our room was very clean with a bath and comfortable beds, wifi, tea and coffee making facilities. It being late and not knowing the area we had dinner in the restaurant. The menu was varied and the food good and plentiful. Service was fairly quick with very polite staff. NB if you are a resident they give you a 20% discount off the food bill. We enjoyed an excellent full breakfast the next morning, service being quite acceptable. Altogether, a very comfortable and enjoyable overnight stay.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are likely to be quieter. (NB Our outdated satnav got confused on the last roundab...

Stayed for one night on business. Room and bed were fine if a little over priced for what is basic lodge type accommodation. Evening meal however was poor - stale and tired potato and veg. Breakfast was even worse - waitress mixed up my order , bacon was dry (not to be confused with crisp), and coffee cup filled to the brim (twice) leaving no option for white coffee. I will not return in a hurry.

We stayed at the Starling cloud last week, I'm so glad we only stayed for two nights I don't think my back could take much more. The bed was like concrete, I've stayed in plenty of hotels and B+Bs and I've never had a bed like it. And if you want a shower make sure you get up early, or the water is cold, Oh and no storage I had to keep my clothing in my case, 5 hangers and no drawer space just isn't good enough.

We stayed one night 14th June , lovely room , modern , clean and plenty of room .Comfortable bed. We had food there also and it was of really good quality and very friendly staff . We were told that we would have to wait a hour for our evening meal as it was very busy but it actually only took half hour and was worth the wait . Breakfast was really lovely also , would definitely recommend .
