A long wait to enter and only one family in front, Den building is mentioned in Woo Hoo wood but there was not much there to build a new den with would be helpful if some one was there to give help to children, with supply of den building material. Black Chasm is not for young children over ten they suggest. Panning for gems is a extra £2 dont forget when paying. Thought for what was there it was expensive. Toilets were in need of checking more often.Dirty and no paper towels for drying hands

“Extremely disappointed!!!!”
Reviewed 27 May 2014 via mobile

It is extremely expensive for not a lot in return.
The staff are friendly which is the only thing which makes up for being robbed!
The mining experience was a real let down, although extremely informative above ground and in the museum, the underground adventure lasted no more than 15 minutes.
We were not provided with mining lights and the lighting in the mine was poor.
Our children (age 6&8) rated the experience as poor to average, adding "they didn't even have models or displays underground" The underground experience ended with the Black Chasm which was literally a 6' dark tunnel with lots of cartoon noises.
The only real thing we enjoyed was panning for "treasure", a nice touch would've been to have a member of staff dressed up and explaining the "whys and how's" of panning (whilst throwing in the odd handful of treasure).
We were delighted to discover the projector room but extremely disappointed to find there was no projector!
The woods were full of cute ideas which have not been maintained, den building is advertised but no one to help.
It all feels very unfinished - apart from the cafe and gift shop where you'll be robbed once more.
It cost us £32 for 2 children and 1 adult to "experience" the mine and 1 adult to wonder around outside, and £12 in the cafe.
The water features advertised are poorly maintained and do not work due to the plywood swelling up, without a member of staff to
demonstrate, this again is pointless.
We would not return or recommend to friends.
If the Silver Mountain Experience was half as good as the advert we would definitely return. A great case of false advertising!! Extremely disappointed.

“Ok if the weather is good”
Reviewed 19 April 2014 via mobile

Reasonably priced & could spend a half day there with a picnic. Visited Good Friday & had gorgeous weather. Kids hunting for eggs. Staff very friendly & helpful. Cafe there but didn't use it so unable to comment. It was ok. The tour in the dark was a good laugh but some kids prob won't like it. There are 2 other tours for younger kids.

“Great day out”
Reviewed 18 April 2014 via mobile

Booked tickets online and off we went. Beautiful drive to reach the mines. Arrived to extremely friendly staff. Two of our party did the black chasm tour and the rest of us with smaller children did dragon's tail tour. Both were great. Staff were knowledgeable and encouraged all to take part. We then did the miners trail quiz and woohoo wood quiz. We loved finding the giant pencils and the umbrellas. We were blessed with glorious weather so enjoyed playing with the gem panning, water games & shroomy hill. Cafe was great for snacks, cakes & drinks and others had brought a picnic. This attraction is what you make it and if you can open your imagination and have some fun then you will have a great time. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable and funny.

“a great family day out”
Reviewed 18 April 2014

The staff were very informative and friendly. As a mixed age group we were really happy there was something for everyone. Older ones did the scary tour and the younger ones went on a dragon hunt. We panned for jewels, explored the woods, did the quizzes, made dams, played mushroom games and ate lovely cakes. If you participate and make your own fun too you can stay for hours. we were there for 4 hours. Everyone from 8 to 60 had a great time.
