We stayed at this fab hotel on Wed 15th and16th May. This is a small modern, chic hotel and decorated to a high standard. The room we stayed in was room 4 which was spacious with a bay window and a king sized bed and a splendid bathroom. There was 2 relaxing chairs to enjoy the lovely views across the promenade and sea. We had lunch when we arrived and an evening meal on the second night and the food was delicious and presentation was very imaginative. All the staff were friendly ( the waitresses are students from the University). This was definitely a hotel that I would revisit.

Room Tip: I like white sheets and bedding and a nice view .

We visited Festival No 6 last year, up in Portmeirion in North Wales, and instantly liked the area. We don't like abroad much. You can find every conceivable travel pleasure here in our own island. So when it came to finding a location for our honeymoon, we opted for the Hotel Gwesty Cymru in Aberystwyth, after coming across it by chance - it wasn't on hotels.com or lastminute. We booked the White Room on the top floor, which is the loft. It's a complete escape room, with two windows looking out on Cardigan Bay. The sea front in Aber has changed little in decades - pace here is slower than city life. You'll struggle to get in the few decent restaurants round here (which close at 9pm), but this hotel has the best food for miles anyway. We ate here for two nights; top-quality. It could probably do with a few more vegetarian options, but the chef's quite happy to adapt menus for customers. The owners have completely got it right - I fully expect that in the next five years, other similar hotels will start to appear along the sea front and Aber will become the Brighton of Wales. The breakfast menu is the best I've ever had in any hotel in the world - and I've stayed at some top hotels as part of my work. The Scotch egg... I'll be dreaming of that for the next six months. Great staff, big smiles, and the G&Ts at the bar are sublime. Drive for 30 minutes north and you have the British version of the Amalfi Coast. When we stayed, there were storms every hour, on the hour, we both had colds when we arrived, and I'd left my coat at home by accident - but we still had the greatest time.

Excellent view, clean and nice rooms, very friendly staff. Very good central location.
There is no parking beside the hotel- please, ask the staff for advice. And, the restorant may be booked- so book it in advance.

Stayed for one night in the small single room in April, on business.

Agree with all positive comments here. Very classy hotel, tastefully done.

I was not totally blown away by the breakfast, but it was okay.

One criticism: the coffee is terrible. Instant in the rooms, and something not very tasty at breakfast!

When I originally booked the person I dealt with on the phone was friendly and helpful. When I checked the was a friendly welcome, the room had lovely decor, quite modern stylish and Welsh in taste - there was art on the wall that looked local, local looking materials such as slate etc used. Bathroom had a lovely walk in shower. Breakfast, which was included in the room cost was tasty and had good service in the little restaurant downstairs with a view of the sea.

Gwesty Cymru is a fantastic small (8-room) hotel across from a seasie boardwalk in Aberystwyth, Wales (mid-Wales), a lively town with an old castle, a university and the Welsh National Library and several great restaurants. Our hosts were attentive, the rooms are delightfully modern, with amazing upscale design features and artwork. The hotel has its own restaurant on the ground floor which is in itself an attraction for guests and for the locals. The university wines and dines candidates it is recruiting at the hotel. Walking distance 93-4 blocks) from the rail station downtown. The downtown itself is a great walking around area -- it even features a small Waterstone's bookstore and a number of lively coffee shops.
