Stayed for one night whilst dropping daughter off at Uni. Beautifully modernised seafront hotel with great location near to Aber shops. We chose room 3 which is to the rear so no sea views but for 1 night not a problem. Room was spacious with good bed and great walk in shower in en-suite. There was even air con which was useful even in sept! Breakfast was excellent and was in the downstairs dining room which doubles as a small restaurant the rest of the day. We ate in the restaurant at night, luckily getting a cancellation, so book early to avoid disappointment. Food was superb, well presented and good value. Staff were all great, friendly, helpful and excellent throughout our stay. Would definitely recommend staying at the Gwesty Cymru.

Room Tip: If you want the best view choose a sea view!

Not sure there is anywhere better to stay in Wales. The location is stunning and its worth trying to get a room with a view due west out to sea - look out for the amazing starling swarms at dusk! But the rooms without a view are restful and stylish and very comfortable. Breakfast is lovely and there is nowhere in Aber to touch the dinner menu. All the staff are lovely and very keen to help you try out some Welsh.

Room Tip: Worth getting a sea view.

Emaculately restored with modern furnishings this hotel is a real gem that stands head and shoulders above the rest in Aber. The bathrooms are well equipped, the beds very comfy and the staff very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Go higher up for the views

My husband and I recently spent two nights here as we travelled through Wales. The service was fantastic, the rooms were lovely and very comfortable. We were in the blue room (two floors up) and had an awesome view of the water. The breakfast was fantastic and I can personally recommend the Scotch egg. You must book your dinner in their restaurant as well (which has the same name as the hotel). It was suburb!

We have been frequent visitors to Gwesty Cymru since 2007 and the standard of service and food is always first class. Over the years we have dined there at lunchtime, in the evening, Sunday lunch time, also as a couple and in larger groups, we even had our wedding reception there in 2011, Huw and Beth are wonderful hosts and Pav (the chef) is simply brilliant. Overall the food is 5 star and the best place to eat in the county.
