Excellent hotel and an amazingly good dinner as well. Would definitely recommend. Can't fault this hotel at all. Good service, good location and outstanding food. Would definitely stay again. Can't think of anything else to say!

A warm and genuine Welsh welcome set the tone of my stay. My room was at the rear, but the seafront rooms have great views over the promenade and Cardigan Bay. The room was compact and very tastefully designed and decorated with teas and hot drinks supplied by a Welsh company. Excellent wi-fi connection. Great bathroom with rain-shower and Gilchrist and Soames toiletries. Great for both leisure and business, with free overnight parking on the promenade. The owner checked me in and we spoke in Welsh, so all the staff I came into contact with after that all spoke Welsh with me from the off - a nice touch which suggests excellent team work and an eye for detail.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea-facing room if available

we, four of us, stayed here for 3 nights. the location of the hotel was perfect, on the sea-front, near to the pier, and just a short walk to the shops and other restaurants. we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. the staff were all very friendly, helpful and efficient. the cosy rooms were very clean, and we had beautiful views of the promenade and sea ! the food was excellent, enjoyed by one and all, both at breakfast and dinner.

We stayed two nights in September 2013 in room 3 on the first floor. We knew it didn't have a sea view which was fine as you only have to step outside the front door of the hotel and the sea is right in front of you.

The room was well appointed with tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits. The bed and duvets were comfortable but the pillows were too hard for my taste. The bathroom had a walk-in shower with good water pressure, there were three bottles of Gilchrist & Soames toiletries and the whole bathroom was done up to a high standard.

There was some noise from the outside at night but I think this would have been louder if we had been in one of the front facing rooms overlooking the prom. I think that the building might be listed which could be why the windows aren't able to be double glazed. Also, the room we were in was above a gate and refuse area so some noise was inevitable, although I think the staff were aware of this as they kept their voices low.

Parking wasn't a problem as there was space on the seafront even though it was a weekend. The staff were friendly at check-in/check-out and were accommodating when I said we might be arriving earlier than their check-in time (the room was made available). Breakfast was lovely and again, staff were accommodating when I chose something that wasn't on the menu.

I have stayed at three other places in Aberystwyth within the past 10 years and this is definitely the best. The decor was nice and modern unlike some of the other establishments which are a bit dated. I would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front may have a sea view might be a bit noisy at night due to revellers on the promena...

I stayed one night in Gwesty Cymru recently. It is really stylish - the decor is immaculate. Breakfast was excellent - the sausage was probably the best I've ever tasted. The young girls on duty were very pleasant and helpful - the owners didn't seem to be around. The only real drawback was that I could hear everything going on in the room next door to mine. (I was in room 7, a single room). Fortunately, my unknown neighbours were quiet and considerate but had they not been this could have been problematic.

Although I enjoyed my stay in Gwesty Cymru I will probably return to my usual haunt in Aberystwyth next time, namely the Bodalwyn. It's just as Welsh, very comfortable, not as posh but it has more heart.

Stayed for one night whilst dropping daughter off at Uni. Beautifully modernised seafront hotel with great location near to Aber shops. We chose room 3 which is to the rear so no sea views but for 1 night not a problem. Room was spacious with good bed and great walk in shower in en-suite. There was even air con which was useful even in sept! Breakfast was excellent and was in the downstairs dining room which doubles as a small restaurant the rest of the day. We ate in the restaurant at night, luckily getting a cancellation, so book early to avoid disappointment. Food was superb, well presented and good value. Staff were all great, friendly, helpful and excellent throughout our stay. Would definitely recommend staying at the Gwesty Cymru.

Room Tip: If you want the best view choose a sea view!

Not sure there is anywhere better to stay in Wales. The location is stunning and its worth trying to get a room with a view due west out to sea - look out for the amazing starling swarms at dusk! But the rooms without a view are restful and stylish and very comfortable. Breakfast is lovely and there is nowhere in Aber to touch the dinner menu. All the staff are lovely and very keen to help you try out some Welsh.

Room Tip: Worth getting a sea view.
