Lovely place with vegetarian/vegan small daily menu. Nice staff, unusual decor with plenty of food gifts on the shelves. I always go for the Mezze, as you get a bit of every salad made as well as a nice chunk of homemade bread and falafel etc. Some beautiful tastes.
Also, I have just discovered their vegan chocolate cake - my goodness!

On a quiet upper part of Bangors High Street you can find Kyffin. Small front leads into an amazingly long area with a mix tall chair and tables to sofas arm chairs and coffee tables. Relaxed unhurried atmosphere, world music playing quietly in the background. Good selection of the usual coffees, but also teas. Big selection of cakes and sweets. And home made vegetarian meals available. Chili with couscous, leek and potatoe pie with genourous selection of three types of salad, interesting looking sweet potatoe pie and fresh soup with the most amazing fresh baked bread.

The thing that's different about Kyffin is how it makes you feel - relaxed, comforted and special. The veggie, bistro style food is excellent, as are the coffee and cakes, but it's the surroundings that make this eaterie a guaranteed rewarding experience. It's special because the vintage ambience isn't musty like a museum, it sparkles with understated elegance but at the same time it's good value. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and had 2 Americanos (1 with soya milk which was really helpful), 1 cafe latte, a sparkling raspberry drink, which I can't remember the name of, and date slice with cream. It came to a reasonable £11. The service was quick and friendly and we felt we could have stayed all afternoon, chatting and reading the newspapers that are provided. My husband agreed the coffee is even better than at Costa.
And Jo Pott Interiors, across the road, is inspiring.

Friendly staff, nice tea and vegetarian food. They sell some adorable little animal biscuits and gifts too. The prices are quite high, considering that it's vegetarian and must cost very little to make, but it is delicious.

Thank you for taking the time to write about Kyffin.

We are delighted that you enjoyed your experience at Kyffin.

Regarding prices, almost everything we serve is made on site, is prepared every day, nothing comes from a freezer or is bought in apart from some cookies because we physically can't keep up with demand, and there is a huge amount of work in preparing vegetarian food as opposed to serving a slab of meat. This is a small cafe with two people cooking and preparing your food, with few gadgets and a domestic cooker! This is home cooking on the High Street.

We consider our honest, fresh food a bargain!

We hope to see you again.

Stumbled upon this little gem in Bangor! Serves fresh home-made food (which you knew was good stuff because the manageress was eating some on her lunch break!)
I recommend the homemade brie tart! delicious! and some handmade chocolate truffles to end the lunch! Only reason I have not provided 5 stars is that one of the staff didnt have a clue about Kyffins limited menu. They did not know the soup of the day, did not know how to describe a dish to me and had to just read out what they offer from the blackboard behind them.

So sorry for the delay in replying.

Everyday we cook and explain to the lunch time staff, the menu. They then write the menu on the boards.

We explain the ingredients and how the food is made so they can explain to our customers exactly what they are going to be served.

Our France trained staff was delightful and skilled but blessed with a terrible memory!

I apologise for his flippant response. This is not the service I expect from my staff.

Many thanks again.
