“Quick Bite To Eat”
Reviewed 11 March 2014

A recent stag trip to Bangor resulted in 31 of us rather hungry on a Saturday night. We sensibly split up so that we could all get something to eat and then planned to meet later. We wondered around looking for something to eat and ended up in the Varsity.

The member of staff was very helpful and ensured that we had all ordered so that he could get this to the kitchen. To be fair we didn't have to wait too long. Two of the party had the Rump Steak which was ok, 1 had a Vegie Burger which was ok and 4 of us had the Monster Burger. Unfortunately these were not ok. To be fair there were loads of chips but the burgers had been cooked on too high a heat and were burnt on the outside and less well cooked on the inside. The bun was soggy and gave me the impression that it had been defrosted in a Microwave. Had we not been in a rush and also so hungry we would have sent them back. We ate what we had an left. We should have stayed in Wetherspoons as the food looked much nicer there.

“Shabby, dirty and generally very much one to avoid.”
Reviewed 6 March 2014 via mobile

Granted it was early Friday evening so we weren't expecting much, but had been told it was a nice place.

Obviously a persons opinion of nice can be so wrong. The only positive is that the bar staff were quick to serve drinks. But as soon as you walk in you see it's not a place to eat, shabby and very tired inside, tables soaking wet from alcohol. That alone didn't inspire confidence to sample their food.

But the biggest issue they have is the toilets, absolutely filthy. The gents floor in particular was quite literally soaking wet to the door and stank. The cubicles, not a place to venture unless you are desperate! If these toilets are checked regularly as the manager has stated in response to a previous review, then whoever is checking the toilets needs to be shown what clean toilets look like! Granted it's hard to keep toilets clean at weekends, but to let it get that bad shows lack of effort.
