I've eaten at Fat Cat numerous. Mostly I had a good experience, though there were few days I've had bad ones.
Firstly, the atmosphere is very nice. It's like a classy pub, especially in the front of the establishment. I recommend you sit at the rear, as there is a decked patio with a fabulous view of Bangor, and the character changes slightly. The front tends to be a bit dark and very 'Winston Churchill''.
The food is nice, some plates are more cost-effective than others in terms of how much you get. The fish and chips is a such a winner! The desserts are very impressive. The menu is far too small, I must add. I tend to visit once every few months, and although some tweaks have been made to the menu, the range of dishes and palettes haven't expanded at all and it's very easy to get bored.
The cocktail menu is also fabulous, and the bar is well stocked-up. Cocktails are pricey however, so only go this route if you have some money to burn!
Prices are about average. People are saying they're too expensive, most any restaurant in a city will charge about £10 in a city. It is alright for students as they have two-for-one offers almost everyday on their meals and starters, which is very good and makes it manageable for students wanting a classy meal out and good time.
