A few minor incidents that were quick to be rectified
Lovely people and a warm friendly atmosphere.
The breakfasts were of high quality and excellently presented.
Mary and Roger made sure we had everything we needed to have a truly enjoyable stay that was way above expectations in every way.

'Cartref' was ideally suited for a two-day assault of Crib Goch and Yr Wyddfa itself but nothing prepared us for the welcome provided by Mary and Roger. They did everything possible to accommodate our request for an early start, even providing one of their legendary breakfasts in time for us to leave before 8.00am. Our comfortable room, the en-suite plus bath (so important in the mountains) the location and the friendliness of our hosts made our stay there a pleasure. We will be back!

Room Tip: Our back room was very quiet

I booked Cartref as a group of us were going to a wedding in Anglesey which was at 11.30am and I had to travel from Southport, Merseyside and Mary was very kind as she said she would let us get changed in a room when we arrived, great as we didn't really want to travel in my wedding outfit. When we arrived Mary was so kind she even gave us tea and toast as we hadn't had any breakfast and had been traveling for over 2 hours.
We found all at Cartref very helpful and had a lovely stay. The location was great just by he Castle. We were particularly impressed with the breakfast which had a huge selection (better than some 5* hotels I have stayed in) of delicious food. Thanks again and hope to visit again soon.

We found both Mary and Roger welcoming to our son especially, and we felt right at home. The breakfast menu had plenty of choice, the food was tasty and fresh. This was the perfect final night to our Wales vacation!

Room Tip: We stayed in #1 but noted that #7 is on the ground floor beside the breakfast room.

I have stayed at Cartref before, but had forgotten how welcoming Mary and Roger were. Their attention to detail verges on the legendary - even facecloths in the bathroom! - and the plated fruit option for breakfast makes a welcome change from the usual guest house fare. The house is spotlessly clean and the location conveniently central. No wonder people like me keep coming back!

Room Tip: I had an attic room with a shared bathroom for reasons of economy, but never encountered any one els...

Mary and Roger were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Lovely quite location but only a short walk from town center, great location for sight seeing base. Great breakfast, despite not notifying Mary and Roger that I was vegetarian, it was no trouble to cook one of the best veggie breakfasts i've had! Clean and tidy and very relaxed atmosphere. Would throughly recommend.

I recently stayed at The Cartref for one night. This place is a traditional guest house. It is located in a quiet location within the castle walls & within a minute you can be in the heart of Caernarfon giving access to a variety of pubs, cafes & the harbour area. In comparison with a lot of pub & hotel accomodaion this place is great value for money. The bedroom which I had was a single on the top floor. It was tastefully decorated & was comfortable. The breakfast in with the price was plentiful & of a very good standard. The owners Mary & Roger were very pleasant & made me feel welcome. They made sure I had everything I needed. There is plenty of tourist information available but if you need specific local information Mary & Roger are at hand. I would recommend that if you are going to Caernarfon for a short stay give The Cartref a call. My friends stayed at a nearby pub & paid a fortune. Save your cash & enjoy the delights of a traditional guesthouse.Would I stay at The Cartref if I visited Caernarfon again ? Without hestiatation. Give it a go ! You'll love it.
