“Ideal for Snowdon”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2014

We stayed in the B&B for one night before a trip up Snowdon - very welcoming B&B, as we were setting off very early the owner arranged for breakfast things to be set out for us to help ourselves to which was appreciated as we weren't expecting breakfast at all at that time!

Room was comfortable & clean - traditional in style but with everything you need.

Camping facilities looked excellent, would like to return for a longer break to try them out sometime.

We stayed in the Timber Tent 'Woodpecker' which was kitted out with a double bed and 2 singles, a kettle and a decent sized fridge and a heater. It's the first time since I was little that I've done any kind of camping and I hate the thought of communal showers and toilets but Plas Gwyn was 5 star. The facilities were extremely clean and well lit so even in the middle of the night we could see where we were going! The owners were friendly and accommodating. Our group stayed in 2 timber tents and and 2 rooms in the B&B and they also offer breakfast in the morning for guests staying in the timber tents. We were also allowed to bring our 2 beagles into the timber tents. The tents were cosy and warm and the site was very quiet considering how many people there were staying in caravans. There is also a nice walk behind the caravan park, ask at reception for a map.

We were staying at Plas Gwyn as it was only 20 mins away from Pen y Pass where we were doing the Snowdon Pyg Path and so was an ideal base. Not too far away from Canaerfon either for a wander around the shops and fish and chips on the harbour.

We stayed in a carvan over the May bank holiday. Caravan was well equipt and clean. The overall impression of the site was impressive, clean and kept in a good condition. The staff were also friendly and helpful.
Would recommend anyone to stay here and would go back again.

Room Tip: Great place

Quiet, family run camp site with B and B accommodation (We stayed here for 2 nights) that provides an ideal base for exploring this region. Views from the house towards the coast were superb and the "family" staff were both knowledgeable and helpful. A very good breakfast served in a lovely dining room by cheerful and friendly staff, always keen to please. The site was quiet in the evenings and a mixture of accommodation from B and B, to static caravans, wooden tents and room for the more seasoned tourers and campers. Next time we'll stay longer and try one of the static caravans!

We had a fantastic stay over here for 2 nights with our family. The location is brilliant and close to snowdon. We reached the site at 11 at night and was delighted to find that the staff had already kept our caravan lit, for us to locate it.
A minor trouble which we faced during our journey was that our Satvnav took us to another caravan park just beside this park.when we spoke to the staff about it in the morning, they told us that we were not the first one to be misled. The postcode of the site is wrong.
Apart from this minor trouble, the entire stay was fantastic. The caravan was tastefully decorated and quite big for 5 adults.would definitely recommend it.

Thank you for your review.

We just need to mention that the postcode is correct but it is a rural postcode and covers a few properties in the surrounding area. Unfortunately, most SatNav systems have pinpointed the destination as next door. On our booking correspondence it does explain this.

We had a lovely stay here over Easter. The camping field was ours, no other tents, but caravan park was full, there were 3 tents in our party. We opted for electric hook up (our first time) and I have to say the allowance was great 13amps!
Field was sloping a little bit but didn't cause many issues.

The toilet block well looked after and clean 2 ladies showers, with lots of privacy and very warm, and 4 toilets I think - plenty - never any queues. I never used the showers but were told they were very powerful.

Two sinks for washing dishes in a warm room, again, never any queues. There is a laundry room with a freezer to use and you are allowed to use the site's freezer blocks, my own problem was it shut at 8.30pm and I wanted to go freeze some blocks when I remembered at 9pm, but not a major issue.

Little shop stocking essentials. three main supermarkets in Caernarfon, pubs nearby and not far to Newborough beach.

Nice added bonus of the farmers field yo can go in to walk the dogs and see/feed the horses.
