“Awe inspiring historical site”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 April 2014

Being 2000 years old, and having been ransacked for stone in order to build a castle, you can't expect to see fully formed buildings on this site. The museum has recently been taken over by cadw after being neglected by a political multi-ownership and unlike the empire, is on the rise again. Visit the museum on site and speak with the enthusiastic curator Tristan Jones who will allow you to handle 2000 year old artifacts and give you a true sense of what the site represents. It is well worth a visit just to imagine the sheer scale of the Roman Empire and their achievements. Thank you Tristan for an interesting visit to your "garden" on 26/04/2014

“Easter fun”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 April 2014

Great Easter fun day on Sunday 20th April 2014

Kids thoroughly enjoyed.

Lucky find as we were passing through towards Bedd Gelert.

Friendly staff all in their traditional armour - kids loved trying on the gear and asking questions

Easter egg hunt was great fun....

“Impressive important Roman site”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 April 2014 via mobile

We were greeted on entering by a very enthusiastic curator, who explained the importance of the site in Roman times and why they chose that area in particular.
They are trying to move away from everything in glass cabinets to giving the opportunity to people to touch and hold genuine artefacts and therefore feel closer to history.
The site itself is well maintained and surprisingly large. It continues over the main road and is well worth a visit.

“What on earth?”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 April 2014

Cut short my visit to Caernarvon Castle, which was brilliant to visit this.

First of all there is nothing here, just a few stones to show where barracks were. While this is fascinating to a point, there is nothing more, literaly it is a field of ankle high stones.

Second, the "museum" was basically an empty cabin with a few pictures on the walls. It was hard to tell as it was closed on a Monday.

Love Roman history but this was a shocker.

“Amazing and free!”

Excellent reception with extremely good staff. Felt at home as soon as we walked in! First place I've been where the kids can hold 2000 year old glass and pottery and be involved with the local history. Looking forward to the Romans returning this year!
