School holidays and grandchildren! Where to have a meal to suit the range of ages 70's to 18 months? Y Castell was the answer for us when we visited Caernarfon recently. A warm welcome in very pleasant surroundings and every effort made to accommodate baby in a high chair and with a meal choice suitable for her. The rest of us selected our meals from the appropriate amount of options on the lunchtime menu. The food was very well presented and we all thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Baby was also well satisfied. We were all ready now to resume our tour of this historic town.

Having heard by friends that have been eating at y castle, not the restaurant upstairs but at the bar level that the food was horrible and staff unfriendly, I was reluctant to go there with friends but having one of them in wheelchair we didn't have a lot of choice of where to eat in Caernarfon.
I was surprised, the food was correct not at all gastro pub but decent, not sure that the chicken pie was home made as it was tasting like a bought one and the little pot of gravy seems out of place with a white sauce filling, the carbonara was too greasy but taste ok.
Overall you've got what you pay, I probably won't go there again or upstairs in the restaurant because there's no reason to believe that the standard of the food is different just by climbing a few steps. As for the staff got nothing to say apart that they're friendly and helpfull.

Surprised and not convinced you ate at Restaurants suitable to your taste. Your good reviews tend to be at Chinese takeaways and pizza's, but when visiting good class establishments you mark them down. I can assure you our chicken pie was homemade but perhaps you'd prefer one from a chippy takeaway. I hope you don't return our staff who give great service where appalled at your comments.

I travelled her with my wife and 3 hungry kids, not the obvious choice, but the meal was great, a small menu, but a real treat, great service, clean surroundings, and a delicious meal with 5 clean plates, 5 main courses and 5 drinks for under £12 a head, great value.

My partner and I had wanted to try Rhodri's Restaurant for a while, and we finally had an evening together without the kids to try it out for our anniversary, and it was certainly worth the wait!

The restaurant is located above the castell on the first floor. The restaurant is decorated to a very good standard, and has a lovely atmosphere.

The service from all staff there was great, couldn't fault it. Our waitress Marged was lovely, she was so polite and professional.

The food was to die for. It is a fine dining restaurant, and the quality and presentation of the meals were great, with freshly cooked food.

We had pork and scallop starters followed by lamb and duck mains washed down with a lovely bottle of prosecco. We shared a cheesecake dessert as we were nicely full.

The executive chef Richard also came upstairs and spoke to us which we felt was a nice touch and hr us a great asset for the castell.

I will certainly be recommending Rhodri's to friends and family, and would love the opportunity to return...
