“Very Pleasant evening”
Reviewed 26 May 2014

We booked for dinner on a Friday evening asking for a castle view if possible for which they kindly obliged us. From start to finish this was a very pleasant evening. We were warmly greeted and shown to our table upstairs where our wine and food orders were taken promptly. Food was excellent, two quality well prepared steaks accompanied by very quaffable house wine all at very reasonable prices.
Would definitely return and thoroughly recommend.

“Calzone indeed!”
Reviewed 17 May 2014

Just been there with my husband. First courses were fine even though my minestrone was probably made of the same tomato sauce used for pizzas etc. which by the way was a travesty - tinned tomatoes and tons of sugar. Talking about pizzas, the base was thin but hard, and tasteless. They dont seem to cook with olive oil. Vegetable side dish lacked TLC, just boiled veg. Service was all smiles.

“Disappointment, not an enjoyable experience.”
Reviewed 14 April 2014

Booked by email 10 days in advance, requested a table for 2 upstairs as the website describes it as intimate with lovely views of the castle and said it was for my partners birthday. Told this could not be guaranteed in case they was a party booking - fair enough.
Arrived to be put on a table downstairs which is dark and dingy, there was a party of 10-12 that were very loud and another table of 4. We were put on a tiny, wobbly table in a corner and had to almost shout to hear each other. It felt like we were an inconvenience.
Asked if there were any tables upstairs to which we were told there was one but it was cramped. It was a table for 4, next to the window with lovely views of the castle - exactly what I had requested!!! Upstairs there were other tables of 2, a quiter party of 6-8 and a lovely atmosphere. Why we couldn't be sat there in the first place I don't know - had everyone upstairs requested tables there more than 10 days before or had they just ignored my booking request? Either way, not a good start. Before the night was over a large drunk and loud group came in. The looks on all the other customers faces said it all - atmosphere ruined.
There was no set waitress for our table which could be why we had to wait almost 15 minutes for our side salad and that was after we reminded them 10 mins into our mains that it had been forgotten along with a drinks order. The food was nice, a little cold due to having to wait for all of the meal to arrive but I assume it would have been really nice at first.
Overall I won't be recommending it which is a real shame. The food (when warm) is absolutely lovely but if for you going out for dinner is for the whole experience then a more care and thought is required.

“Quaint place nice food”
Reviewed 10 April 2014 via mobile

We ate here a couple of nights ago as my kids age 11 and 9 really love Italian food. The food came incredibly quickly... the kids pizza was very nice and the chorizo chicken and spaghetti Bolognese and risotto all tasted okay. The restaurant is like going into a little house. The staff were very friendly and the desserts were nice.
