“Away from it all, with chicken, ducks, guinea fowls and a pig grazing out front.”

This is a no-frills static caravan that gives you the pleasure of natural environment with great morning and evening (ok... all day) views from the living area and the kitchen (I could stand at the sink and wash dishes all day with that view). There's a wooden patio out front, where you can sit with your tea and stretch your eyes beyond the wood at the bottom towards the sea and isle of Anglesey. Because the Snowdoina mountains are behind you the sun rays hitting the beach first thing in the morning is a wonderful sight. I gather the sunset is also wonderful during summer, but it was still beautiful this end of winter.

We didn't find the time to go further down to the woods, stream and the green field out front, because our main aim was to climb Mt. Snowdon in the snow (which we did), and visit places like Portmerion Village, Black rock beach, Beddgelert village, Dinas Dinlle beach, Beaumaris Castle, Llandudno, Conwy Castle and off course Caernarfon Castle. Away from it all but still very accesible to most places!

As the main description honestly suggests you might have to be a little brave to weather the elements. Some people might have reservations about the access and the surroundings and walking about in the mud, but to me that's what this property is about. If you love camping with a little bit of home comforts than just a sheet of tarpaulin over your head, this is it!

Note: Paul left us with 6 fresh eggs on arrival, gave us 6 more during our stay and 10 as a parting gift (right out of the hen house) Cheers Paul, I hope to rent your old Bedford bus once it's installed down in the woods!

Liked best: Views and the solitude.
Liked least: Chicken discharge on the patio and chairs, but I would be happy to hose it down myself.

On arrival at Cynlas, my friend and I (plus her 7 year old son) were presented with a loaf of freshly baked bread. This was a great start to a brilliant weekend. We really enjoyed sitting on the wooden terrace outside the static caravan, with views to the sea.

The caravan itself was comfortable and roomy, with great beds and a hot shower. There is even a wine rack!

Cynlas is a child's paradise. The 7 year old and I amused ourselves for a very happy couple of hours sailing plastic boats down the stream that borders the property and building dams. The trampoline and swing and slide set were also a hit but even better was finding an guinea fowl egg in the grass and feeding the pigs. Picking apples in the orchard was also great fun.

Caernarfon, with lots of wet weather actitivies, is a short drive away, and we had a great day out on Anglesey and drove through the mountains along the Llanberis Pass (amazing views). But you don't need to drive to enjoy the area, there are several magical footpaths very near to Cynlas.

The hosts were great, very friendly and knowledgeable.

Liked the most: the views and the stream, the guinea fowl running wild
Liked the least: I can't think of anything!
