Excellent Room, Staff and a historic location, who could ask for more! Cheesecake not on the menu so the Chef made some specially for the next day. Steak and Ale pie was one of the best I have tasted.

A group of 8 of us stayed in 4 rooms in Black Jacks as we wanted the kitchen facilities these come with - superb - though I can't speak for our friends but they also liked their rooms. We were in room 40 on the ground floor - very large bathroom and nicely appointed bedroom. The fridge was very noisy which kept me awake but that's my only niggle. I'd never stay anywhere else when we visit Snowdonia as I just love this place! It has a real buzz in the bar and restaurant, friendly staff, parking, and amazing food with ginormous portions! Perfect after a days walking. And great location in Caernafon. Can't wait till next time!

This is quite an experience. Extremely helpful staff as well. We arrived early evening and not only got a room, but also a discount. Caernarfon is a fascinating experience. The accommodation was inside the original city wall and obviously full of history. Breakfast was included and menu was extensive...from "full Welsh Breakfast" to "boiled eggs with soldiers" and anything in between. Highly recommended. A step back in time but with up to the minute facilities.

Room Tip: Should have asked for a softer pillow....two pillows but both a bit hard.

This place is amazing. True to every word on their website. We were seated within 10 minutes on a busy Saturday night. The wine list and food menu was superb and to say we only had Chicken Curry and Fish and Chips would do them an injustice. It was vy dar the best fish and chips I've ever had and my girlfriends curry was amazing too. The staff are fantastic, really friendly, everyone of them smiling the whole time and couldn't do enough for anyone. So glad we found The Black Boy Inn and will definitely be back.

Overall I would recommend this establishment, the room was spotless and the food was very good. However we did experience a couple of issues that did effect our stay. Firstly, we had booked a double en-suite room yet still ended up with a twin room with kitchenette. I rung down to reception but their reply was simply that the hotel was full booked and there were no more rooms. Now I can't be 100% sure, but when we booked I'm pretty sure we were given the option of either the double en-suite for £110 or the twin with kitchen for £94. We chose the more expensive option thinking it would be a better room. To then be fobbed off with a potentially cheaper room with twin beds (We've been married for 20 years!) was pretty hard to accept. The next issue was at breakfast the next day. We were told there would be a short wait for the food which we accepted, we did not expect a 'short delay' to mean 40 mins! To add insult to this there were several tables who were served breakfast before us despite arriving after us. It eventually transpired that our order had been overlooked by the kitchen.
We would stay here agian if we had the need to visit Caernarfon again, however this may not be on our radar for some years to come. We have enjoyed several day trips to the town and enjoyed them however at night the town takes on a slightly less touristy sort of vibe. The pubs and bars (with the exception of the Black Boy) have a distictly 'local' flavour and several are somewhat intimidating to non-local customers. Not in a threatening way I would like to add, just maybe not quite as much geared to the visitor as say other similar towns such as York or Chester etc.

Room Tip: Any with blackout curtains and good double glazing. The seagulls can be very noisy!

Thank you for review , sorry there was error with your booking . I am not sure how you booked if it was via agent we have no control over room type . But if you return please book via our web site as it gives us more flexibility to change room type etc.As regards breakfast service, we are aware there had been an issue last couple weeks regarding the order process. We have now changed the way we take orders in both dining rooms.Hope you return soon.

The Black Boy Inn is situated down a short street from the castle entrance.Ask any local. In olden
times when ships were trading at Caernarfon, this Inn was a bordello (brothel),and a local haunt of
many sailors. The inside is dark and beamy, very comfortable.A live fire gives authenticity and feel
to the place.Having eaten there many times,we have always been served courteously by the staff,
and the food has been of a high standard and plentifull. We have eaten inside and outside, and I
would rather go there than anywhere else.We will be back next time.

Room Tip: Expect the rooms, stairs, etc to be "olde worldy".It's a very old building. Being a lis...

Thank you for this review , we at the Black Boy Inn do not try and sell ourselves as a posh upmarket Inn. We are not we sell ourselves as good value honest , clean accommodation with busy bars . Our food is not nouveau cuisine , we are again good value honest meals. So glad you also explained this so well.
