“Very special place to stay”
Reviewed 6 July 2013

Ideal location (within the town walls and lovely walks to the Castle and the Coastal Path), a bit tight for parking though (very narrow and busy one-way street), but wonderful facilities (spacious and spotless room & bathroom), hearty and varied breakfast, nice hosts. Lovely lounge to relax (+ wi-fi connection!). Very enjoyable (and restful) stay.

Just returned from a one night stay at this lovely guest house. The bedroom was clean and fresh, and the bed sooooo comfortable! There was complimentary tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits in the room, together with a small fridge with a generous jug of fresh milk, which makes the drinks much nicer than those sterilised plastic pots of 'milk'. The fridge also contained bottled water. There were bath robes and slippers in the wardrobe.

Breakfast was really tasty and plentiful - there was a choice of fresh fruit (strawberries, melon, grapes etc - yummy), fruit juice, yoghurts, cereals, freshly baked bread to start, and then traditional breakfast of bacon, egg etc or a variety of other hot choices such as scrambled eggs on toast.

The guest house is within the castle walls, and although it does not have it's own car park we were able to park a few yards from the front door.

A thoroughly enjoyable stay, would highly recommend.

Room Tip: We were in room 1 which overlooks the garden, so was nice and quiet.

This place has everything! Nice hosts, beautiful rooms, great food and service. And the location is amazing. It's within the town walls, a short walk to the castle. You can spend a day just wandering around on foot and there are plenty of day trip opportunities. And we will never forgot the sight of our B & B host stepping out onto the porch and waving goodbye as we went on our way, just like we were family!

If you are visiting this town, I highly recommend this great B & B!

My partner and I stayed here for a night in May, 2013. The room was on the small side but very well fitted out with a very comfortable bed, silent fridge with spring water and fresh milk for drinks, and, very unexpectedly, fluffy dressing gowns and slippers. Excellent cooked breakfast. Caer Menai is located in the old walled town on a one-way street on which the roadside parking is not quite as easy as other reviewers have suggested.

We stayed in this amazing little town over the Easter weekend and loved it. It isn't often you get to stay within the castle walls. We had had a "castle day" exploring Wales and this one was our favourite! The B&B was within walking distance of everything, the castle, pubs, the water and was very well outfitted. Nice to have tea in the room, with fresh milk. My husband and I had one room with a double and our two adult children had another room with 2 twin beds. All were very comfortable and breakfast was very filling and very Welsh. We had a great stay. Highly recommended.

We stayed at the Caer Menai for one night on Friday 12th April.

My wife and I thought this guest house was exceptional!

The attention to detail that makes certain properties stand out was in abundance at this little gem!

Just a few things that made the difference:

Easy parking on the road outside the accommodation.
Met with a smile by someone who new my name!
No rules: very easy going - total bookin and get going time 2 minutes!
Fresh milk provided in Fridge for tea/coffee tray
Bottled water provided
Nice telly
Robes and slippers (we had not expected that)
Real coat hangers not those silly hotel things!
Top Quality Room which was clean and very comfortable
2minute walk to Castle
1 minute walk to Menai Straites
Top quality bathroom products
Guest information short and to the point!
Packed lunches provided at extra cost
Very comfortable bed with top quality linen
Guest Lounge on ground floor - very nice
Dinning room with fresh flowers on every table
Free WiFi which was very fast
Free computer in lounge
Building full of character
Owners both very friendly and helpful

Breakfast:

Fresh Fruit Salad - with the just made taste!
Full breakfast superb - everything you can ask for!
Porridge again superb!
My wife had their Smoked Salmon Scrambled Egg -WOW!
Real coffee not instant
Lots and lots of extras - cakes, juices, black pud and it goes on.....

We have stayed at many hotels over the years (50+) but this was the best Breakfast we've had!

So all in all this was a fantastic 'find' and we were already planning our next visit as we headed out of the town.

Well done!

Room Tip: We had room 7 on the third floor -- it was excellent.

We stayed here at short notice for an overnight stop (10/04/13)
The immediate impact of the twin bed room on us was one of immaculate housekeeping followed by beautiful decor with matching bedlinen and curtains. The twin beds were very comfortable and the room was as warm as you wished. Cotton wool wipes and make up remover were provided and you can ask for a toothbrush, toothpaste, etc. if required. The shower water was lovely and hot (easy to use) with a good supply of soap , shampoo and shower jel to hand.
A fridge was provided in the room with fresh milk for our tea and coffee.
Breakfast was cooked freshly with plenty to choose from on the menu.
Our room (2) overlooked the street at the front with a view from the bay window through the town walls to the harbour and boats. Friendly owners make this the perfect stay for longer than one night.
.

Room Tip: Street is very quiet at night at the front. Shops, pubs, restaurants and the sea within a few minute...
