On arrival we checked in easily and had a good laugh with the member of bar staff. The room was well appointed, very clean and well laid out. The en-suite bathroom was well fitted out, once again, very clean, with a bath, which I prefer.
The hotel is centrally located, but has no parking of it's own. This is not a major issue as there is a public car park close by and I heard of no problems with cars being interfered with.
We decided to eat in the hotel. The food was of a very high standard, and the pricing was about right. The breakfast was freshly cooked and tasty. I was even offered a second one by the owner ewhen he saw that I had a clean plate.
I have no hesitation in saying that we shall be returning again in the near future. Overall, the hotel is excellent - the only reason that I have not given a five out of five for sleep quality was that I found the mattress very hard - however my other half found it fine.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front can be a little noisy due to fronting onto the main drag through Abergavenny.

A lovely place to stay while visiting the Market town of Abergavenny,
The rooms are really nice and cosy. Quality of food is high and the cooked breakfast served in the restaurant is great.
You will be sure of a welcome here form the friendly hosts.

My wife and I stay at the Kings Head as often as we can. We live in the East Midlands but will drive to Abergavenny and stay here whenever we can. They even arranged everything for my wife's birthday. Very friendly people everywhere, good food in the 59.
It is a very old building so don't expect a premier modular inn. All the rooms have character, I have in stayed in many of them. Music on a Friday night, makes for a great end to the night.

Room Tip: If you stay on a Friday night, just ask for a room at the back unless you are going to be in the bar and enjoy it.
