“Lilymay and Dorothy are imposters!”
Reviewed 5 October 2013

The two negative reviews below were clearly written either by rival pub/restaurant owners, people with an axe to grind or simply locals being 'mischievous'.

We've been eating at The Grofield ever since Andrew took it over - maybe seven or eight years - and it has never been anything other than an extremely enjoyable experience.

The atmosphere and service are impeccable; Andrew and his wife are charming and the food is always, ALWAYS beautifully cooked.

Ignore those silly reviews - they're simply a load of rubbish. Eat here and love it!

“Lunchtime visit”
Reviewed 6 September 2013

Found the pub by chance but will most defiantly be using it again when next visiting the town. The food was outstanding, and the service second to none.

“Great little pub!!!”
Reviewed 6 September 2013

I live in Abergavenny, and if we are ever at that state of where your thinking "lets go out for something to eat" we always consider The Grofield as the first option. Andrew and his staff are warm, friendly and welcoming. The food is excellent, the prices are so reasonable. And the beer garden is just great! Especially with the recent weather.
Great food, very good prices. Great staff and excellent service, Why go out of town????
Tip - you must book for Sunday lunch!!

“Fantastic Pub, Excellent Food!”
Reviewed 28 August 2013

I have visited this pub on several occasions for something as simple as a soft drink and a toasted sandwich taken in their beautiful beer garden (which can even be used on a rainy day under their covered decking) Recently we went there with a large group of family and friends for a birthday celebration and we can only speak highly of the Grofield, it's service, food and staff. I would highly recommend this establishment and cannot believe the recent negative comments on trip advisor about it.
