“Excellent value for money”
Reviewed 5 March 2014

We called here today and were greeted, the manager came to the table to take the order of drinks and again for food. Both arrived promptly. The atmosphere is very relaxing. We shall always call here when in abergavenny.

“A Great Pub”
Reviewed 24 February 2014

We stumbled on this pub after the cinema and now always include a trip to the Grofield with every film.

The pub is clean and tidy with a great atmosphere - clearly a true local - the landlord and staff make you feel very welcome.

The beer is excellent.

The Sunday quiz night is now in our diary - fun, fun. fun.

“Pleasant inn”
Reviewed 17 February 2014

My partner and I were staying in Abergavenny recently and went to the Grofield for some lunch Saturday afternoon. It is a nice inn with a good pale ale acording to my partner. His Gammon was very good but unfortunately my veg curry was very bland and not up to scratch at all. The staff were very pleasant though throughout and it is a nice little inn with a nice bar.

“Not quite up to standard.”
Reviewed 12 January 2014

We were waiting far too long for the food to arrive.
Was there a problem with staff, one more person would have made a difference.
The food looked good, although very much portion controlled.

We were disappointed the food was served on cold plates, it ruined the meal, and the vegetables were only just warm which suggests to me unprofessionalism.

If the waiter is concerned he might burn his fingers, maybe a chefs glove or tea towel would help. Or even a tray.

The pub is clean. However, for value overall, not rated above two. Price wise we paid too much
for badly presented meals.

We will vote with our feet!

“Weekly visit”
Reviewed 26 November 2013

I can't believe the two negative comments below. As a family we have been going to the Grofield for food and nights out since Andrew and his wonderful family took over. Andrew, Sian and their two children couldn't make you more welcome. The pub is always immaculate and the food is always of an extremely high standard. In the 7/8 years I have NEVER heard Andrew raise his voice or ever speak to anyone in a negative way. Totally recommend you visit and make your own mind up.
