We were staying in Abergavenny for the weekend and decided to go out for dinner on the Saturday evening. Having chosen a certain italian chain restaurant on the other side of town as our destination we just happened to walk past the King Arms Hotel on route. Scanning the menu board outside as we walked past it piqued our interest and we decided to just pop in and have a look. So glad we did! The place was very inviting, nicely decorated, and had a relaxing warm atmosphere. Bar staff were courteous and when we decided to change our plans and eat there instead we were accomodated with no problems. The restaurant was fairly busy but service was still very efficient and the food we had was excellent, a notch above your standard gastropub faire. We will definately eat here again next time we are in the area. Keep up the good work :)

On thursday 14th of December myself and 10 friends had our xmas meal/get together.
The evening started well with nice food and prompt service, and towards the end of the evening i ordered a Brandy and several coffees, the Brandy was served in a high ball glass and it looked a short measure so i asked for it to be put in a brandy glass but it still looked short.
i called a waitress over and asked her to check it for me her responce was to roll her eyes at me as if it was too much trouble..when she returned she was quite angry and started to tap her finger on the table saying it was correct measure,i was shocked at her attitude so my friends and myself withheld a tip of £11.
The following day i decided to phone the hotel and mention my expreience and did not reveal the identity of the waitress but said that they should tell the waitng staff who were on duty of my complaint but was again suprised at the indifference of the young lady who did not even apologise to me.although she did say she would pass my message on..Are we booking for next year..NO..

Staying at the Angel Hotel where the food was too exotic for us, we tried the Kings Head. What a great decision, we had the most delightful and authentic lamb buriani and Chenei chicken curry.

The staff and manager were exellent.

Well done guys fantastic. Keep it up.

We stayed at the KLings Arms because Cardiff was fully booked and too expensive - we were going to the Wales V NZ rugby match. Staff were super friendly and got the room ready for us so we could heck in early and dump our bags. Room we had was the Skirrid - Room 2 - with a wooden four poster. Lovely. Really atmospheric.
Breakfast was lovely and cannot recommend this place more highly. We even got a beer from the landlord Jon who keeps a great place. A really handy location. 5 stars from us and we hope to come again soon
