“Stunning location, luxury accommodation”
Reviewed 21 May 2014 for a stay in March 2014

A group of friends visited the White House for a short walking holiday. Lovely rural location with stunning views of Sugar Loaf mountain and Abergavenny nestling in the valley. Only a two mile walk down the hill to Abergavenny and a number of country walks straight from the back door. All the fun of the farm; black lambs;chickens wandering about, a variety of birds outside the kitchen window. Fresh eggs, home made cake. Excellent facilities, very comfy beds and Roz and Pip extremely helpful. Highly recommended.

“You'll no sooner arrive than be wanting to book your next visit.”
Reviewed 21 May 2014 for a stay in April 2014

Reviews already on the site seem to have covered pretty well everything one would want to say, and the stock of superlatives has been deservedly raided. Roz and Pip appear to have approached the appointing and furnishing of the White House in exactly the same spirit with which they set about the Old Barn - by thinking hard, down to the very finest detail, what THEY would want if they were staying somewhere, and then setting out to provide it for their guests, all at the very highest spec. I cannot recommend the White House too highly , nor speak too highly of Roz and Pip as people to do business with. Perfect holiday hosts.

Reviewed 14 May 2014 for a stay in March 2014

What a delightful space, ticks all the boxes, comfy, cosy, welcoming (welsh cake, wine), stunning views, mod cons but historic feel, good access, friendly owners and fantastic bird watching right at kitchen window ! what more would one need and very reasonable with great walks all around ...Thanks to Ann Bolton for guiding our group HERE !

“A luxury farmhouse at a non-luxury price in an idyllic location.”
Reviewed 8 May 2014 for a stay in March 2014

Having stayed at Roz and Pip's converted barn last November, I was keen to try the White House as soon as it was ready for letting and I was not disappointed. It was spacious and comfortable, furnished in Roz and Pip's inimitable style: combining modern with retro. No expense has been spared on the interior and there is everything there you need. It is a pleasure to cook in the kitchen because it is so large and well equipped - and the knives are sharp - a rarity in rental properties! Beds are comfy and the lounge was really cosy in the evenings with the log burner roaring. (Wood is included in the price.)

The views from every room are to die for. We were looking at the new born black lambs from one window, the free range chickens and pet rabbit from another, the cows grazing and, of course the fantastic view right down the hill to Abergavenny. At night the starry sky is breath-taking and you feel you are miles from anywhere and yet, the great thing about this location is that Abergavenny is only 2 miles down the hill for shopping, restaurants and tearooms - civilization!

The house is in a perfect location for walking and sight-seeing. There are wonderful walks from the door up into the hills. Even the most inexperienced walker can reach the top of Sugar Loaf and feel you have climbed a mountain! Slightly further afield, a short drive away, there are dozens of fantastic walks in the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains.

Roz and Pip make you feel very welcome and provide you with freshly laid eggs, a bottle of wine and delicious home made cake. They also made my friend's little dog very welcome too!

We'll definitely be back.

“Wish I could go there every weekend!”

We stayed in The White House over Easter 2014, for the JK Orienteering Festival in the Brecon Beacons. It was the ideal place to stay: the roll-top bath was so inviting every evening after a day's running just lying there watching the clouds.
Every facility is in the cottage, with the extra treats of a home-made cake and eggs from the hen-house. And with the black lambs gambolling in the fields outside, seeing the lights come on down in the valley or just watching the small birds on the feeder you can while away hours and hours.
Roz and Pip are so helpful and friendly, and they have lots of advice: walking routes, restaurant recommendations, even how to hand feed two new-born lambs which they were doing while we were there.
We can't recommend The White House enough; you can see the care that Roz and Pip have spent doing the cottage up and beautifully too. I just wish that I could go there every weekend!
