“memorable stay....”

what can i say about this hotel.....well i will start with the lovely warm welcome we received on arrival. the couple who own the hotel are so friendly and personable and nothing is too much trouble for them. the hotel is so nice with an eclectic mix of new and old....the bedrooms are so comfortable with a king size bed in each room...each room also has en-suite and tea/coffee and tv...the food was to die for...so beautifully cooked and presented. my friends and i had the run of the hotel for two days for an event and henrique and jo who own it were perfect hosts. i would highly recommend you check this hotel out before booking somewhere else and finding yourself disappointed. there are plenty of places to visit within easy reach of the castlebank hotel....i am looking forward to a return trip there next year..if not before..oh and for the first time in ages i had an amazingly good nights sleep...that alone deserves 5stars in my book!!...

Room Tip: it really doesnt matter which room you book as they are all set out and as comfortable as each other...

went to Boo Hewerdine's two day songwriting workshop, along with 8 others and had the hotel all to ourselves. Breakfast, snack lunch and dinner were excellent. Henrique's photos framed in every room and lobby inspired several songs. A perfect place of creative inspiration.

This hotel is a Victorian building beautifully decorated with a large restaurant, bar, and sitting room. It's in a perfect location, just outside the town wall but within walking distance to all the sights. There is no elevator but nonetheless we had requested the Vardre room #5 on the second floor which was charming, very clean, and had a view of the castle, town wall and estuary. The bathroom was small and we had to pull a string to activate the electric hot water heater but the bath towels were extra large. The small sink was in a separate alcove. We enjoyed opening the window to let in the fresh breeze.

Breakfast was yogurt, fresh fruit, toast, cereals, and cooked-to-order eggs, mushrooms, tomato, sausage, black pudding and "bacon" which was much meatier, more like ham. Two of our 3 mornings we had to leave before the breakfast hour, and Henrique was kind enough to open the breakfast room early where all was available except the cooked choices. He also helped us with the computer since we did not bring our laptop.

We highly recommend this beautiful hotel where Henrique and Jo provide excellent service.

Lovely stay in the hotel - Jo and Henrique couldn't have been more accommodating. Coped brilliantly with a gluten free coeliac menu. Really enjoyed my stay. Always available with advice for things to do.

My wife and I stayed here 5 nights in October and enjoyed every minute. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The location can't be beat, just outside the town walls with a 5 minute walk to the best restaurants in old town. Parking is on site and more than ample for all tenants. A comfortable lounge with overstuffed couches/chairs and fireplace is also available. We would stay here again and highly recommend it for others.

Room Tip: We stayed in room number 9 with nice views of the old town walls.

Superbly, lovingly maintained romantic hotel in historic setting, gorgeous food and very very caring hosts! Both Enrique and Jo make you really feel at home. They are very genuine and take real interest in their guests. The rooms are very cosy and fitted with much attention to details. We felt extremely comfortable and relaxed. Free car park and WiFi. Got all praise from my wife and daughter for staying in this hotel. A must stay!

Little I can say beyond previous reviews other than to add my voice to the chorus of praise. Easy to find, fantastic location just outside the walls, generous and well prepared breakfast and clean/safe/character filled rooms. Helpful hosts were always ready with suggestions or directions to others that could provide assistance. Would certainly stay here again and recommend to others.

Room Tip: Views of the castle and town from the front bedrooms are wonderful
