“Absolutely Fabulous!”
Reviewed 17 September 2009

I just stayed for the one night but found it to be fantastic. Jo was really nice and friendly. My room (No 4, The Dressing Room) was the smallest in the house with just a single bed, but it has a large window that looks out the front of the house and has a great view of Conwy Castle! It also had a seperate bathroom which was just down the hall, but it was still private and I had the key to it, and it was a proper full size bathroom. I had dinner at the hotel as well which was very tasty. Definately make sure you look at the directions on their website before going though as the entrace is through a public carpark, though their carpark is private and free.

We stayed in the castle view room. If we strained our necks out the window, we could see Conwy Castle. There was nothing to persuade us to dislike it. We only stayed a night.

The staff was alright. Overall, I felt they were a little cold, especially when we arrived. But the owner was helpful the next day to recommend places to see.

There was a lot of ship artwork on the walls that my Dad thought was cool.

The Castlebank is a really good find and thoroughly recommended. With a convenient location for Conway itself and for touring the North Wales area, good views from well equipped rooms and lots of extras in the public rooms, it has everything we wanted for an enjoyable holiday. We also ate there each night and were very well fed indeed -Henrique always seems to have a few extras that aren't on the printed menu that made sure there was always something to interest us!

Stayed for 3 nights - had room 6 - quite nice and spacious enough for 2 adults. Most or possibly all rooms are detailed on the hotels website. The rooms on the front are larger and would have fairly good views but as I was late booking only 1 room was available - room 6 but was nice. Conwy is a v good location for Snowdonia and reasonably close to Holyhead. The hotel is in central Conwy and Conwy is a few miles from Llandudno - a busy tourist town. Hosts are v nice and very helpful and knowledgeable on local stuff, routes etc. Breakfast was excellent very good choice and very filling. Didn’t have dinner in the hotel but I would imagine it would be of very good quality. The bathroom was quite small so don't be expecting a big bathroom (room 6 anyway) but was spotless and had power shower etc so it was more than adaquate. The rooms are not like a standard conventional hotel as its more like a large guesthouse / country house and would have a lot more character than your standard chain hotel. Would definitely stay here again if I’m touring in North Wales again.

I stayed here for 2 nights with my wife and 2 young children. The hotel is situated in a nice quiet part of Conwy, just outside the castle walls. A warm friendly reception was provided on arrival and we were shown around the hotel just as a friend would show you around their own house. Living room, bar etc were all very welcoming.

Our room was on the top floor of the building with magnificent views of the surroundings from every window. It was spotless and decorated in a nice homely fashion, different to the chain hotels we would be most familiar with. Some thought went into our children's requirements like no other hotel we have stayed in previously. The room had ensuite shower but we were provided with a room adjacent to a bathroom which allowed us to bath our children. A travel fridge was also provided in the room which was great for keeping our 1yr old's milk etc cool.

We had breakfast in the hotel each morning and it was very good. Loads of variety from cereals, yoghurts, cooked food and constant coffee top ups provided. Service was excellent.

Overall I would highly recommend this hotel. It is a very comfortable base for anyone touring North Wales or visiting this area on business.
