“Grand Tudor town house in centre of Conwy”
Reviewed 14 May 2014

Fascinating glimpse into the household of a rich Welsh gentleman in the 1500s. Very useful audio guides with actors playing members of the family and retainers. Interesting that one of the motifs on the walls was severed heads of Englishmen, commemorating an ancestor who chopped them off during the time of Llewellyn the Great (I think)...

“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed 12 May 2014 via mobile

Plas Mawr is an Elizabethan house in Conwy. We spent a very enjoyable two hours there and thoroughly recommend it. The house is very interesting and the free audio tour is well done and informative. There are several knowledgeable volunteers on hand to answer questions also. There is a lot to see so allow between 90 minutes and two hours to do it properly. The staff were really helpful And friendly which is always a good start.

“One of the best historical homes I've seen”
Reviewed 30 April 2014

Sometimes I feel a bit smothered by guides and audio guides in historical homes, but now here. The audio guide was interesting, informative, and easy to use. The volunteers were wonderfully helpful and full of fascinating facts. The home is beautiful to explore and the added furnishings really give a taste of what it once was like. Definitely a highlight!

“Interesting piece of 16th century history”
Reviewed 30 April 2014

Really nice example of 16th century history that has been sympathetically restored to it's former grandeur. Very interesting (and Free) audio tour that covers a great deal. The on site volunteers i'm sure would fill in any gaps that the audio misses. A really nice activity for a rainy day with the whole family or just as a couple. Hats off to Cadw, really nicely done.

“Brilliant”
Reviewed 29 April 2014

Its an amazing place. It took me back in the 16th century. Every room and every little detail was eye-catching. My favourites were the kitchen and the great chambers.
