“Lovely”
Reviewed 5 June 2013

Lovely gallery with very expensive paintings. Nothing that I would care to purchase but it was fun to look. I am amazed that one could get an interest free loan to purchase artwork.

“Royal Cambrian Academy”
Reviewed 26 April 2013

This is a smaller affair than the Royal Academy in London. It is in a converted chapel just behind Plas Mawr; the RCA was in Plas Mawr for over a century but couldn't keep it up, so Cadw has it now. The RCA, like the RA in London, is an artists' co-operative with changes of exhibitions every couple of months. The exhibitions vary in style and oscillate between superb and awful, between five stars and two, so four is a fair average.
So if the first show you go to does not take your fancy, go again another time - you can guarantee it will be different. If you call, you may find yourself wandering round with an art class in progress - nobody will mind you and you can watch artists doing their thing.

“Bronzes Exhibition not to be missed”
Reviewed 23 September 2012

This is a really wonderful exhibition covering over 6000 years of bronzes. They are set out in different themes (eg human form, animals, reliefs etc) rather than chronologically. We liked the groupings in this way. There is just enough information by each exhibit and the whole experience was most satisfying.
