We had a nice warm welcome and were shown to a nice warm room (after a long, wet and windy journey on a motorbike).
A small room with a small ensuite but cosy, clean and comfortable. The kettle went on straight away! The fresh milk (in a fridge on the landing) was a definite bonus and the biscuits and chocolates in the room were a nice touch.
The water in the shower stayed at a nice constant temperature and the toiletries were very pleasant.
Ample storage space for a short stay, but on a longer holiday you might struggle if you've brought lots of clothes with you.
The whole house was very clean and nicely furnished, we particularly liked the conservatory with a lovely view of the surrounding countryside, a good selection of books and even a pair of binoculars! It would be a beautiful place to relax in nicer weather.
We particularly enjoyed the breakfast, one of the best we've had.
The location is excellent, only a 5 minute walk from a very nice little town with some excellent pubs.
The driveway is quite steep but it's a definite bonus to have parking on site.
I would definitely recommend Glan Heulog to other travellers.

Glan Heulog is a very good bed and breakfast in a quiet, pleasant location about a quarter of a mile - if that - from Conwy's compact town centre. Its elevated position, set back from Llanrwst Road up a hill, affords some good views of the surrounding area. The start of the driveway is exceedingly steep though, and your car will need some momentum to ascend the initial sharp gradient. Once up the driveway, ample parking is available. Our room, located on the first floor, was spacious, comfortable and nicely furnished; the retention of its large traditionally styled fireplace being a nice feature. Breakfast, served in the dining room with views towards the Sychnant Pass, was of excellent quality. All in all, a thoroughly recommended place to stay.

My best friend and I stayed at the Glan Heulog on for two nights (24-26th Jan) and had a thoroughly great time! The house itself is located just 5 minutes walk outside the towns castle walls and is set high up on a hill so has the pleasant feeling of being out of the way despite it being in a perfect location.
Glan Heulog is a beautiful house, full of character and warmly decorated. The only reason infact that I have not scored it 5/5 is because there was some decorating being done at the time but this did not detract from our lovely stay. The owners were very pleasant and welcoming and the breakfast was simply fantastic!
Our room was on the top floor, very cosy and decorated with soft pastels and purples. The beds were (too!) comfortable, so much so that we got up slightly late for breakfast on the first morning!
All in all, a perfect location, reasonable prices and a lovely atmosphere. Thanks!!

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 7 at the top of the house, beautiful!

My wife and I stayed at this very nice guest house from the 27th to the 29th December and had a very enjoyable time here. We also stayed here about 6 years ago but the property has been under new Management for the last 6 months and the new owners obviously inherited everything on the premises as part of the purchase and are now making plans for some alterations or improvements of their own.

We stayed in Room 6 which was spotlessly clean, very pleasantly furnished and decorated and situated on the top floor of this charming Victorian house. The room has a small en-suite shower room attached which is also very attractively laid out and decorated. The only negative comment regarding the en-suite is that it currently does not have a radiator or heated towel rail and at this time of the year, it was cold in there first thing in the mornings but, we mentioned this to Mr and Mrs Nash and they already have plans to address this very soon and I am sure that they will.

The Dining Room was beautifully decorated and furnished and had a very cosy atmosphere and can comfortably cater for a large number of staying guests. A very good breakfast menu is available throughout the year. We chose to have the full, Welsh cooked breakfast both mornings and again, we were not disappointed. The quality of the food, cooking and presentation is very high at Glan Heulog and I am confident that other guests will easily agree with me on this.

There are also a number of nice little extra’s provided in the room including a modern, flat screen television set, a hair drier, tea and coffee making facilities, a selection of chocolates and biscuits, fresh mineral waters and two very comfortable tub style chairs to sit in adjacent to the characteristic sliding sash windows to take in the breathtaking views across Conwy.

There is also plenty of space in the wardrobe (and also plenty of good coat hangers provided) to hang 2 person’s clothes in comfortably plus, spacious bedside drawer units as well.

A word of warning to anyone staying who has chosen not to travel by car…there are a total of 39 broad steps to climb from road/pavement level to the main front entrance then, 34 wooden stairs to climb from the reception area up to Room 6. (This does include a number of rests and landings as well to break it up though and it is not as bad as it might read!)

I only mention this as unfortunately, I suffer with a heart condition and got very out of breath getting from ground level to the room each day but, having said that, we knew all that prior to making our booking and we still consider we were very lucky to have got booked in here at a very busy and popular time of the year.

In any case, we would imagine that the majority of guests would arrive/travel by car and therefore would not have to encounter the main outside steps as access to the property can also be gained via the car park at the top of the slope at the side/rear of the property.

We would definitely look forward to staying at Glan Heulog again and we wish the new owners lots of luck and happiness for the future. They were delightful hosts and are both very nice people.

Our family stayed here for 2 nights in June, 2013. We enjoyed every place we went, but this turned out to be our favorite. Our room overlooked the city walls. We walked to town, had an evening stroll along the ancient walls, walked to the castle for a wonderful day, strolled the waterfront, and were within easy driving distance of many other sites and activities. This was the ideal base for exploring northern Wales.
Our room was spacious and comfortable, the breakfast was great, and we enjoyed chatting with the international clientele. When we return to Wales, we will be sure to stay here again.
I forget the name, but we had dinner in town, at a small restaurant that seemed built into the city walls. It was the best lamb that we have ever had.
