We have just returned from two nights at Synchnant Pass Country House Hotel. It is set in the most magnificent surroundings - on the edge of national park land but only a short drive from historic Conwy. Our room was comfortable and spacious with views on every side and a large bathroom with jacuzzi, double shower and double basins. We couldn't have been made more welcome. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly like being invited into someone's home. The quality of the food was exceptional - a really good chef - a good range of choices but not too much to be confusing and we loved the fact that food is locally produced and supports local businesses. Hugh has a great wine list at reasonable prices. The spa facilities are an extra bonus. This was a perfect place from which to explore Anglesey and the Snowdonia national park and a restful place to return to after our explorations. We felt like we'd had a complete break and we'd only been away for two days.

Thank you for posting. We're glad that you enjoyed your stay and found time to explore the amazing countryside. Snowdonia is looking stunning at the moment.

Ten minutes outside of Conwy, we found the Sychnant Pass Country House. Three wild Welsh ponies were grazing outside the gate as we turned in. The hillsides are so green, the bushes, trees, and wild flowers are blooming. What a sense of relaxation as you carry in your luggage. After settling in our rooms, we convened in the living room where Hugh greeted us like an old family friend as we enjoyed a drink before dinner. Watercress soup with scallops, Risotto, wonderful Welch Lamb and Grilled Sea Bass were a couple of dinners that we tried. I was pleasantly surprised with the wonderful meal. After dinner, we had coffee in the living room while chatting with the other guests. Oh yes, the Victorian decor felt comfortable, a bit formal, but just right. On our way to our rooms, we passed shelves filled with books at the top of the stairs and in the hallway... just in case you needed to borrow one to read in bed!

So pleased you enjoyed your stay. A lot of people comment on the relaxation here - not to mention the food and the location. Hope you have pleasant memories of your time in the UK.

We have just returned from a lovely weekend at Sychnant Pass Country House Hotel. We stayed Friday and Saturday Night. The room was lovely and very individual. The bed was very comfortable, plenty of hot water and room for relaxing. Breakfast was great, the perfect start to the day. The pool, the hot tub etc, all look fine. We didn't use them, but that was because we were too busy relaxing! The shared areas are very comfortable, and the only downside is there are no news papers and magazines. We ate in the restaurant one night. We found the food fabulous and not bad value at all. The drinks were also not bad value. If there has to be a downside it would be that it is pretty quiet, and lacking a bit of atmosphere in the evenings, but this would not stop us eating there again since the food was great. Thanks Hugh for a lovely weekend.

A beautiful old house set in a lovely location with sauna, indoor pool and outdoor hot tub. Delicious food too and a lovely log fire for after dinner drinks. Thoroughly relaxing with welcoming hosts. A wonderful weekend break. Walking nearby through spectacular countryside.

Very impressed on arrival, fantastic large grounds, lovley view. Nice rooms, possibly further than a mile into town but no big deal at all.

The owner gave us a lift into town as the taxis were very busy, what a guy, thanks again!

Breakfast was excellent, did not get a chance to try any of the other facilities but I would be confident they were all tip top.

Would certainly recommend.

Room Tip: Our room did not have a attachment on the wall to attach the shower to, my only ever so slight criticism. Only noise was from the weather but that did not disturb at all.
