Very warm welcome, this place is in a great location surrounded by hills and green space. The swimming pool looks great though I didn't try it.

I arrived at 10pm, which wasn't a problem at all :) and I could charge my electric car overnight using a dedicated outdoor 3 pin socket (there are 2 charging points, a standard 3 pin and a Commando socket, though they are thinking of adding a Type 2 standard charging point).

Thank you

we had a fantastic welcome from Hugh when we arrived ,this is one of the finest country houses that we have ever stayed at .the room we had was very large we had a very comfortable bed and the bathroom was large with a shower and Jacuzzi . outside we had our own private patio with its own hot tub ,well that was unbelievable. the hotel also has a swimming pool, gym ,sauna and a large hot tub outside .now we get down to the very best food we have had for a long time it was that good we would had licked the plates if we thought no one would have seen us.Hugh the owner and all the staff were excellent nothing to much trouble ,thanks for a wonderful time we will be back soon .

Room Tip: Callon Lan was our room

Lovely to meet you both. I am so glad you enjoyed the spa facilities here and in particular that you were able to enjoy the swimming pool. The locally sourced fresh food that the chef prepares is amazing and much commented on. Calon Lan is a popular room, so do give me a call in plenty of time for your next visit here.

Spent two very restful nights in Blaenwern. As well as being a spacious room, a particular plus point so often overlooked in B&Bs and hotels alike, was having somewhere comfortable for us both to sit and read, or watch TV. Another advantage was having two basins in the bathroom. There are many extra touches that help to make a stay away from home so pleasurable. Added to the comforts inside is the glorious scenery all around, and the lovely little town of Conwy. And if all that were not enough, the food is quite excellent. So, after your day out, don't bother to wonder about where to go for your evening meal - just stay put. You will not be disappointed.

We stayed in the Calon Lan room for our anniversary to have the use of a private hot tub which was lovely. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was nicely decorated.

We were told that check out was at 11am, we therefore planned to enjoy the room and facilities until that time, however, 10.50am a member of staff came into the room whilst I was undressed and totally naked. This caused me huge embarrassment and is totally not what you expect in any standard of hotel. The owner Hugh, already knew about this incident when we checked-out (on-time) and apologised, however, rather than compensate us for this unprofessional incident, all we were given was an additional £5 charge to our bill for a bucket of ice!!!! His response to us questioning the £5 charge was that you wouldn't expect to take your own drinks into a pub !! (it was our wedding anniversary and we took our own champagne so that we could enjoy a preferred make unavailable in most hotels). On his response, we should have added that when paying for a night in a hotel one wouldn't expect staff to walk into the room unexpectedly and uninvited. Having stayed in many Country Hotels recommended in the Welsh Rarebit and Great Little Places, we are disappointed with the way this matter was inadequately dealt with by the owner, after such an incident, one would have expected the owner to be "bending over backwards" so to speak!

Thank you for taking the trouble to leave a review. Once again, my profuse apologies for the incident when a member of staff walked into your room. This has never happened before and I am unable to explain why she did this - she had a list of rooms which were ready for cleaning and yours was not one of them. I can only assume that she misread the information she had been given.

Lovely to meet you and your sister. I'm glad you thoroughly enjoyed your stay in Snowdonia. So glad you enjoyed the food - we are proud of the quality of what our chef produces here and we are keen that more people use the restaurant. Your recommendation will help!

My wife and I celebrated our pearl wedding anniversary and we could not have been more delighted with the choice of venue and the wonderful service. The food was exquisite and beautifully presented - the host Hugh could not have been more attentive and as for the setting - wow - what a place - so tranquil and peaceful. Would highly recommend this place to anybody. Lovely swimming pool and jacuzzi on site.

Wonderful location, peaceful , small but very pleasant room....... but had to pay £50.00 extra pounds for allegedly smoking in the room when in fact, being such a perfectly sunny day, I smoked on the patio. I felt spied on......not a pleasant experience. Pity because I would have loved to go back and recommend it to others.

Thank you for your review. The strong smell of cigarette smoke had been brought to my attention by other guests and staff. As you say, your room has a lovely sun terrace where people can enjoy a glass or two of wine in the sun and can smoke to their hearts’ content. After comments from guests, yes, I did have a look at your terrace and there was no sign of the ash tray that we supply to the terrace table. I knocked on your door and mentioned that there was a strong smell of smoke and at that time, the patio doors were tightly closed. A few minutes later the patio doors were wide open and the ash tray was back on the terrace wall. This was a very clear indication to me that you had been smoking inside the room. You were very rude when you left and didn’t want to discuss the matter at all. We do state very clearly in our Welcome Pack that smoking inside the room is illegal and carries a penalty hence the additional charge for cleaning.
