An absolutely superb meal at the wonderful Manorhaus.

The addition of the fish options as starters or mains give extra flexibility. Service was attentive, friendly and just right and our special request of the window table for a special anniversary was made possible with no fuss.

Fine dining, gorgeous food, but great value for money too.

We'll be back.

First visit to the town. Welcomed ...dishes explained.
Table immaculate
Subtle but different music
Reasonable house wine and well priced two coursed menu
Mine could have been a bit hotter but delicious all round.
Met some lovely people and we watched the thunderstorm.....
Would recommend without reservation.

Visited manorhaus last night..been there before and food was lovely again..busy because of Valentine's night..but service was not in keeping with the quality of the food.. not enough staff on, for the number of patrons and therefore staff could not be anywhere near attentive enough.. needs to improve as it would be a shame to lose a lovely restaurant..

Dear Ian

Thank you for your review, and we are glad you enjoyed your meal with us. Unfortunately the service on Valentine's night was below our normal standard despite the best efforts of those working. The impact of the storm had resulted in one of our regular staff members being unavailable, so at short notice we drafted in a new waitress. Despite her best efforts the service pattern and venue was new to her as it was her first night (and obviously very busy with lots of 2's) so this impacted on a number of tables during the busiest times. We apologise for this and hope that we can welcome you again with service that is at our normally high standard.

Many thanks

I like good food, i am very happy to pay for expensive food and good service. But i don't like paying for things that feel over priced and under served.

The manorhaus at Llangollen is a nice building, well decorated and has enough space given over to each table. The bar area is small, but well furnished. The drinks menu is extensive and not just the run of the mill.

The menu looks amazing, from the electronic version outside, to the wording and pictures. It tempts the pallet, intrigues the mind and is just what i want.

Sadly, the food when it arrives is lacking something.

When i ate there we were the only people in the restaurant but the service was a little slow, and the food, while nicely cooked lacked a little zap. The starter lacked any specific flavour or direction, it was just a plate of food.

The main of venison wellington was again nice, but tiny, the accompaniment was nothing and the venison was a little over cooked, then a bowl of potatoes was put on the table almost as an afterthought.

Yes it was cheapish, £32.50 for a 3 course meal, but not cheap enough for the bland food that was served.

Go to Ciros brasserie, a slight drive away and a tny bit more money, but far nicer for that type of meal out.
